This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Good Morning,
In response to your last communication, the page and article are not for advertising. This is an article about my company which is a legitimate company and its history. The purpose of this page is to provide a historical, yet factual timeline based account of how we came into existence as a company and how we are structured. This is not at all advertising or using for such purpose. Every major fitness brand has the same structure. Equinox Group, Fitness International, LLC and others. I have copied the format of what they do directly from their pages to ensure I am following the guidelines. So how this is even a question of advertisement is mind blowing. I am requesting a full review of this and an unblocking of my account as this page will not be used in accordance with any such works. Your account has been indefinitely blocked from editing because your account has been used for advertising or promotion, which is contrary to the purpose of Wikipedia. Also, your username gives the impression that the account represents a business, organisation, group, or web site, which is against the username policy.

If you intend to make useful contributions instead of promoting your business or organization, you may request unblock and a username change. In your reasons, you must:

  • Disclose any compensation you may receive for your contributions in accordance with the paid-contribution disclosure requirement; and
  • Convince us that you understand the reason for your block and that you will not repeat the kind of edits for which you were blocked; and
  • Describe in general terms the contributions that you intend to make if you are unblocked; and
  • Provide a new username.

To do this, post the text {{unblock-spamun|Your proposed new username|Your reason here}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your proposed new username" with your new username and replace the text "Your reason here" with your reasons to be unblocked.

Please note that the new username you choose cannot already be taken and in use by another account. You can go here to search and see if the username you'd like to choose is available. If the search returns that no global account with that username exists, that means it is available to be taken.

Appeals: If, after reviewing the guide to appealing blocks, you believe this block was made in error, you may appeal it by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Replace the text "Your reason here" with the reasons you believe the block was an error, and publish the page. -- Deepfriedokra (talk) 07:28, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Correction Made to Links in Article. I was unaware that these links added would be considered advertising. We under no circumstance intended to use this as an advertisement platform, however, we wanted to create a knowledge based page for our company's history. This page was suppose to mirror several others, we did not realize that these link adds would be considered advertisement. If you allow us the opportunity to correct these link usage in that article we will immediately remove them and use bold text instead.Once again this was not our intentions and we appreciate any opportunity to correct. Decline reason:

This actually makes matters worse, not better. Not only did you not address your violation of WP:COI and WP:USERNAME, you indicate this is a shared account. Shared accounts are not permitted here. You won't be unblocked to write about Altitude Fitness Enterprise Holdings. If this is your only goal here, this is the end of the line. Yamla (talk) 20:22, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

No Sharing Accounts Used / No Promotional Names Used Altitude Fitness Enterprise Holdings (talk) 21:30, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You used "we" and "us" several times above, this is the source of the idea this was a group account. You also seem to gravely misunderstand the username policy which clearly states business names as usernames are not permitted here. You also misunderstand conflict of interest. As the founder and CEO you are a paid editor as well. As you indicate you will no longer be using Wikipedia, there is no need to remove the block. 331dot (talk) 22:04, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Yamla, I am a bit confused as to where you are gathering or getting the information you are referring to. At no point did I mention anything about my account being a shared account. There is no sharing of accounts. Where you gathered this inference from is beyond me. I clearly stated that I was unaware that linking pages for reference purpose to a external source that was the actual companies website was considered advertisement. Secondly, I clearly have stated that this article was being written to describe my company which I am the Cheif Executive Officer and Founder. I was preparing the article for the company and added links to the external page as a descriptive and informational means. There was no intentions to advertise any services and or products on Wiki. For the record let it stand that I did not under any circumstance mention sharing of accounts. The user name that I have created is the name of the business being articled and written about. That being said there is no sharing of anything since I own the company and am the executive responsible for the organization. Further, in order for me to remove the links I would require access to the content to be able to do that. You have restricted the access to the content and continue to explain things that are not true about this page. I am requesting that the account be unlocked based on these points and that I be granted the opportunity to correct the links. As far as the User Name is concerned I have read the policy and this name does not violate Wiki's policy on advertisement and/or user names.

Notability of companies

[edit]

Wikipedia is not a business directory, so a company is not entitled to have a Wikipedia article just because it exists. All topics must be notable by Wikipedia's definition to merit inclusion. In the specific case of a company, it must meet the notability criteria for companies and organizations. For this to happen, the company must have already received significant coverage in multiple reliable and independent sources. We have no interest in what a company wishes to say about itself, as this is an inherent conflict of interest. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 21:20, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

So I pose this question, if you do not wish to hear what a company has to say about itself then why are there so many companies allowed for inclusion? That statement is contradictory to the reasoning you provided as all companies on Wikipedia are talking about themselves. That being said there are no conflicts of interest in publishing FACTUAL information about a company and or business's history. Isn't the purpose behind Wikipedia to provide an encyclopedia like platform that provides valid, honest and reliable information about anything and or any one subject matter within its parameters. Significant coverage of a company could mean many things however, this business has received significant coverage within the area and industry. That is a subjective matter of opinion and not an objective one. All the rules and regulations in the world cannot change the fact that your citing of these policies just simply shows that as an administrator you are wrong in your interpretation of the information and facts. Furthermore, the tone seems to be very condescending and derogatory. The fact remains that Wikipedia is a source for information from many different sources and should be treated as such and not as a Gustapo regime campground. If you want to investigate the notability of the company run a Google Search. With that being said at this time with this attitude and behavior we will remove all information from Wiki and will boycott the use of this resource. There are several misunderstandings shown in these comments. 331dot (talk) 22:04, 24 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
There are no misunderstandings in these comments. If you feel that there are some sort of misunderstandings then you should state what those are with reliable proof to validate your position. Thus far I do not think for one second that any of you so-called Administrators have read the nature of your concerns nor have addressed them appropriately. Providing someone with the how-to rather than the what-to is a much better way to address these queries. All I was looking for was a way to unblock my account to post articles but obviously this is not the platform for that. Altitude Fitness Enterprise Holdings (talk) 14:56, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Companies that have Wikipedia articles were allowed because they had sufficiently significant coverage from third-party sources, demonstrating that they are notable enough for inclusion. Wikipedia's job is not to provide coverage for a company, but to summarize coverage that already exists in reliable sources.

Reliable sources are sources which have an established reputation for fact-checking and editorial oversight. This heavily favours mainstream journalism such as major news organizations, academic press, and reputable publishers of newspapers, books and magazines. Primary sources like a company's own website cannot establish notability, and neither can self-published sources like social media, blogs or other websites with user-generated content.

You won't be unblocked if your only intention is to write about your own company, because that is a conflict of interest. You are not capable of being an objective judge of your own company's notability; and because you have a financial interest in the company, you will find it very difficult to write with the required neutral point of view. Administrators need to see a commitment from editors that they are willing to first edit topic areas outside of their conflict of interest, to build up a constructive edit history and an understanding of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. In time, then you may be allowed to write a draft article about the company for review.

So there you have a path forward, if you choose to take it. If you want to be unblocked under these conditions, then submit an unblock request with the {{unblock-spamun}} template - and have a look at the guide to appealing blocks to increase your chances of success. If you are unwilling to accept these conditions, then you should search for an alternative outlet outside of Wikipedia that permits the type of writing you want. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 21:25, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
