Adminstrator Support
[edit]Can you please support my request for adminship: Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/Tyw7 2.
Thanks,
Tyw7, formerly Troop350 (talk) 22:04, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
- Tyw7, I'm sorry but I didn't check my Wikipedia page until today, and it seems that the decision has already been made. Sorry. Just a couple notes: you should probably have at least 5000 edits before trying to become an admin -- I have a few thousand but am still waiting. And also, Warren is a member of the Wikiproject Software and he is also an admin. Regards and better luck next time, Althepal (talk) 18:07, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
- No he's not! Check out: http://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Special%3AListUsers&username=Warren&group=&limit=1 -- Tyw7, formerly Troop350 (Talk) 17:01, 2 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hmmm. Was he ever? I'm not sure why I was under the impression that he was. I bet he'd probably have a good shot at becoming an admin, right? Althepal (talk) 18:13, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Walmart logo.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Walmart logo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 05:18, 19 July 2008 (UTC)
Colours in Inkscape (R)
[edit]Hi Ariel. How can you change the colors in Inkscape,in the text editing? Thanx,--{{flagicon|Romania}}ʞɳΩɯ ўθʉя ʀǒʟέ (talk) 12:36, 23 July 2008 (UTC)
- You can select the group of text as if it were any object using the selector tool (top button on the left toolbar that looks like a pointer) and then choose a color by clicking on the color you want from the bottom of the screen or by accessing the Fill and Stroke window for more control (Shift + Control + F). You can also select only part of the text, while typing, and doing the same thing (Shift-Ctrl-F) or also by double-clicking the color next to the word "Fill" at the very bottom-left of the screen. Better source request for Image:Win7M1menu.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Win7M1menu.png. You provided a source, but it is difficult for other users to examine the copyright status of the image because the source is incomplete. Please consider clarifying the exact source so that the copyright status may be checked more easily. It is best to specify the exact web page where you found the image, rather than only giving the source domain or the URL of the image file itself. Please update the image description with a URL that will be more helpful to other users in determining the copyright status.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source in a complete manner. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page or me at my talkpage. Thank you. — Northgrove 10:21, 18 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for improving a digital clock picture! Credits.
[edit]Hello - updating the public-domain version of a digital clock, Image:Digital-clock-radio-basic hf.jpg, was probably not an item you would have expected to get credit for some day ... but as it turns out, you did, and I just want to thank you here. Sometimes, it is pure joy to see what becomes out of public-domain pictures. I've used and updated it in an submission for an essay contest here: http://fqxi.org/community/forum/topic/307 (picture is on the first page of the PDF, credits on the last). Speedy deletion of File:Win-like-userbox.svg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Win-like-userbox.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I8 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is available as a bit-for-bit identical copy on the Wikimedia Commons under the same name, or all references to the image on Wikipedia have been updated to point to the title used at Commons.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:File:Win-like-userbox.svg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. You posted that you would like to see a current beta software template. Do you know if one has yet been made? (Or where I could make a proposal?) I'm looking to add it to the Office Live Workspace article.Smallman12q (talk) 01:54, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not sure of the official way to go about this, but you could always make a page called Template:Beta_software. I made a single-use template which can be found at Helicon Photo Safe if you want to use that code. EDIT: Seems that Beta software template actually exists. I don't know how I missed it. Mac OS X move proposal
[edit]Hi there,
In September you commented on the proposal to move Mac OS X Snow Leopard to its original title, Mac OS X v10.6. I believe that its current title is most appropriate, and have opened another proposal for Mac OS X v10.3, v10.4, and v10.5 to follow this new convention and be moved to Mac OS X Panther, Tiger, and Leopard, respectively. I'd like to establish a consensus on the subject, and since you were involved in the previous discussion on the subject, I thought you might like to offer an opinion here as well. There is only one vote other than my own so far, and I'd like to hear some more opinions rather than declare a consensus on this limited basis.
Thanks in advance. If you'd like to contact me, please do so on my user talk page or the proposal itself. —INTRIGUEBLUE (talk|contribs) 21:34, 18 October 2009 (UTC)

File source problem with File:Opensuse111beta4.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Opensuse111beta4.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:06, 7 January 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 16:06, 7 January 2010 (UTC)

Hand SVG conversions
[edit]I'd like to kindly request that you stop hand re-drawing corporate logos. While you may be doing a decent job, you still are not creating exact copies of these logos, and thus are degrading the quality of these logos, and in turn degrading the public image of the company and the designers who were paid to create the logos. An example, take png vs svg. Your font is not the same weight as the original and is missing the ff ligature, and the kerning is off. Your mark is missing a drop shadow element, the gradient is off, and the shape is not exact (too pointy, size/dimensions off). So you created a knock-off logo. This has recently come up as an issue at WT:NFCC. I find, more often than not, you can track down vector versions of logos from official sources (whether in media packs, pdfs, or other content found on official websites). Thanks. If you have questions or concerns about this, I'd be glad to discuss it further, or free free to contribute to the NFCC discussion. -Andrew c [talk] 16:37, 1 March 2010 (UTC)
- If you wish. If there's a development in the discussion, feel free to let me know.
- About the Office logo, if you do an overlay you'll see the text of the two logos is identical. If gradient is not the same it's pretty darn close, they have the same pointyness. I agree with the dimensions, the squares on the right should be made a bit thinner. Drop shadow is very subtle and is trivial to add, anyone can do it.
- Meanwhile you're free to upload the vector-from-pdf copies of the logos. Althepal (talk) 20:54, 2 March 2010 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Viewsonic logo.png
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Viewsonic logo.png. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
PLEASE NOTE:
- I am a bot, and will therefore not be able to answer your questions.
- I will remove the request for deletion if the file is used in an article once again.

Future ReactOS versions
[edit]Hi! LoneRifle recommended I contact you regarding the inclusion of future versions of ReactOS. The only source of information is an open wiki, which I believe to be acceptable in this case. This point was brought up in a previous discussion but not resolved.
--Gyrobo (talk) 16:56, 7 May 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Gyrobo. You know, I'm not really following ReactOS anymore. They rarely meet their own deadlines they set on their homepage about future versions and they haven't released an update in over half a year. Their current roadmap has virtually no information. So unless the same people overseeing the project produce any information about the project, I'm not sure what else can be mentioned here. Althepal (talk) 03:10, 28 May 2010 (UTC)
You are now a Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:45, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
