Speedy deletion nomination of Susan Foster
[edit]A tag has been placed on Susan Foster, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia for multiple reasons. Please see the page to see the reasons. If the page has since been deleted, you can ask me the reasons by leaving a message on my user talk page.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 21:21, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- {{Help me}}
- Hi Alison. You used the helpme tag but did not post a question. Without such guidance, I will assume your question was related to how to avoid the speedy deletion you were notified about above. That has already occurred, because the article was essentially the poster child for blatant advertising, written exactly as you'd expect a commercial to be written, a panegyric using glowing language like what you'd expect to find on a website promoting some person, which in this case aptly describes it because I saw that you were paraphrasing the subject's website (maybe a little too closely, but that's another issue). I will provide a copy of the article to you if you request it (you can contact me on my talk page) and post it on a subpage for you to work on, but it will have to be completely rewritten in an encyclopedic tone. You should also try to find and use reliable, secondary sources that are independent of Ms. Foster for the citations; maybe you can find some to use here or here. Regarding the advertising issue, please see WP:SPAM, WP:NOTADVERTISING, WP:NPOV and WP:PEACOCK.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 22:17, 12 April 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, the draft is now at User:Alisonpollack/Susan Foster. I suggest, after your rewrite (and you can take your time; while it is in the userspace as a subpage, barring a copyright infringement, it is unlikely to be bothered), you post to the help desk asking for someone to take a look before it is moved (not cut and pasted) to the mainspace. Cheers.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 00:41, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- Alison, why did you create the article in the mainspace again? I provided you the article at the subpage above so that you could rewrite it at your leisure without being bothered and when it is ready, then it can be moved to the mainspace. Why are you creating it again and not working on it per above?--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 01:53, 13 April 2012 (UTC)
- Alison – I'm not sure what you are thinking. Are you reading my messages? Do you understand the page above is where the content is and where you should do the re-write? I have just deleted the article from the mainspace yet again, and am trying to figure out what you;re not understanding. Meanwhile I have protected the title from recreation for three days to save you from yourself. Work on it at the subpage. How can I make this any clearer?--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 02:04, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

[edit]The recent edit you made to Susan foster has been reverted, as it removed all content from the page without explanation. Please do not do this, as it is considered vandalism; use the sandbox for testing. If you think the page should be deleted, see here for what to do. Thank you. How do I get my revised draft approved? http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Alisonpollack/Susan_Foster
THANKS!!!
- You should check, first, with user Fuhghettaboutit (talk) who has protected the title against creation because it has been created so often. You will need his agreement before it can be posted.
- I have added a "userspace draft" template at the top: that contains a "Submit" button. Clicking that, when the draft is ready, will submit it to WP:Articles for creation, where either it will be accepted or you will be given feedback. Do not do that until Fuhgettaboutit agrees.
- It needs more work. Comments from a quick read:
- It still reads like an ad or puff piece, with phrases like "solidifying her position as an influential new jewelry talent" and "With her design reputation now established". That is the reason why it has been repeatedly deleted. Read WP:PEACOCK. Wikipedia is extremely resistant to being used for promotion, and requires a neutral point of view - no PR-speak, no opinions or glowing adjectives, just plain facts, neutrally stated, referenced to reliable sources. You are not writing for Foster, you are writing for Wikipedia about her.
- I advise cutting out the whole "Family History and Lineage" section - this is an encyclopedia, not a gossip magazine, and her stepfather/grandfather/cousin's exploits as soldier/jockey/set decorator are irrelevant to an article about her. The impression given is that you are trying to bolster her notability by name-dropping, but notability is WP:NOTINHERITED.

Your Userspace
[edit]Hi Alison,
I looked over your userspace and did a little tweaking, but I'd advise you to ask a few other experianced editors to look over it as well, and after that you could eventually re-post your article. Happy Editing! --GouramiWatcher (Gulp) 23:58, 13 April 2012 (UTC)

Much closer
[edit]Hi Alison. I've just tweaked the article, and following your rewrite, and Gourami's edits, the article is much closer now to being in a form we could use but it still has very few reliable sources included. I will try some searches and see if I can't find and add some soon over the next few days.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 13:57, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- THANKS U GUYS!!!! :)
Alisonpollack (talk) 19:08, 14 April 2012 (UTC)
- Alison – I have looked for secondary citations to add and flesh out the article and failed to find any in independent reliable sources, discussing her in any detail. I am thus not convinced she is notable as we use that word here. Nevertheless I have moved the article to the mainspace. However, while the article is no longer a valid CSD A7 candidate, and no longer reads as blatant advertising, I must tell you I don't think it would survive and articles for deletion discussion. I think I've already made this clear but if you know of any good sources you have not added, the kind I've been talking about, you should add them.--Fuhghettaboutit (talk) 23:09, 16 April 2012 (UTC)
