Copyright infringement, and edit-warring

In the article Roman Abramovich you have repeatedly posted material copied from the BBC's web site. What is more, on one occasion you did so by undoing an edit for which the edit summary stated that the text was removed as a copyright infringement. You must have seen that edit summary, so you certainly knew what you were doing. Don't post material to Wikipedia which you have copied from elsewhere unless you have ascertained that it is either in the public domain or licensed for free reuse in terms compatible with Wikipedia's licensing terms, which is not the case for the vast majority of web sites, and certainly not for the BBC. If you persist in breaking copyright law you will be blocked from editing. JBW (talk) 22:32, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Even if there were no copyright problem, your multiple attempts to restore your preferred version of material at Roman Abramovich would be problematic, because repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree, known as "edit-warring", is considered disruptive. Users are expected to collaborate with others, and to try to reach agreement, or failing that at least an acceptable compromise, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement. A more detailed account is available in Wikipedia's policy on edit-warring, and it may help to read that policy. Note that editors who persist in edit-warring may be blocked from editing to prevent further disruption. JBW (talk) 22:46, 10 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Reminder to administrators: In May 2014, ArbCom adopted the following procedure instructing administrators regarding Arbitration Enforcement blocks: "No administrator may modify a sanction placed by another administrator without: (1) the explicit prior affirmative consent of the enforcing administrator; or (2) prior affirmative agreement for the modification at (a) AE or (b) AN or (c) ARCA (see "Important notes" [in the procedure]). Administrators modifying sanctions out of process may at the discretion of the committee be desysopped."
