How you can help

Hi Alex. Thanks for writing the this informative, interesting article. It's always good to see coverage of people in science and climate change.

You're probably wondering whether the article qualifies for inclusion in Wikipedia, and I'm afraid I'm not sure at this point. Wikipedia's rules are, to most people, weird when it comes to deciding whether an article should be included are not. The way it's generally determined (described here) is to look at what's been written about the person (in this case Kelly Wanser), in published sources that are "independent of the subject". There generally have to be at least two such sources and they both have to describe the subject in some depth. I'm not seeing sources that fulfill this criteria, so if you were to submit the draft for approval, I'm guessing it would be declined.

That said, there's quite a large grey area when it comes to determining whether biographies can be included or not. If you'd like some help from people who have a lot more experience with biographies than I do, the people at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Women in Red are awesome. You can introduce yourself there anytime and ask for help.

In terms of the draft itself, it has lots of great information about a remarkable person. There are a couple of issues that caught my eye. One was the statement that she "advised" the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory "on commercialization strategy for fusion energy." The cited sources for this statement say that she was working with the lab but (unless I missed something) not that she was advising them on commercialization strategy for fusion. I imagine that you learned this information from a different source, which would need to be cited.

Another issue is that the article presents mostly a pro-marine cloud brightening point of view. It would need to describe opposing points of view as well to comply with Wikipedia's Neutrality policy.

If you have time to contribute further to our existing articles on climate change or anything else, that would be awesome. Creating new biographies can be very tricky, but contributing to existing science articles is much more straightforward. Again, thanks for your efforts and good luck!
