CSDHelper - another hangon template

Hi there. CSDHelper does not recognize {{hang-on}} which is a redirect to {{hangon}}. I thought you might want to know. Regards SoWhy 13:41, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

On a side note, it does not recognize the annoying {{nn-xxx}} old-style tags as well (e.g. {{nn-bio}}). Some people still use them, so you might want to add that to the script. Regards SoWhy 13:49, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

All old, annoying templates should be deleted :). Fixed. Ale_Jrbtalk 18:17, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Another "bug" with CSDHelper

Yeah, I know I'm annoying. Still, little thing I noticed when converting multiple speedy tags to prods, it will add multiple prod tags to the page (one for each speedy tag, see example here). Maybe the script could be tweaked to check for that? Regards SoWhy 07:53, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

PS: While I'm already bothering you, do you think that an option could be included to convert a speedy to {{prod-nn}}? Regards SoWhy 07:58, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
Both of those are now fixed. To use the {{prod-nn}}, enter nn as the prod reason. Ale_Jrbtalk 09:59, 7 July 2009 (UTC)

CSDH, opt out of messages?

Is there any way to opt out of receiving the automated messages from this script? Ifsomeone disagrees with my tagging, and is using this tool, I trust their judgement, and really don;t need to hear about each and every declination, or change of reasoning. WuhWuzDat 01:40, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

No, there isn't. It's up to the user whether they choose to send the message or not though. Ale_Jrbtalk 10:13, 10 July 2009 (UTC)
You can't opt out of Twinkle messages either, as far as I know (just as a comparison). Ale_Jrbtalk 10:20, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Adela Chu

I'd like to get your justification for speedy deleting Adela Chu. I'd like to reinstate her. She is the founder of the most important annual event the San Francisco Bay Area: Carnaval San Francisco. This event connects the Bay Area to our hemisphere culturally in ways that no other event or institution can claim. With your coding skills are you able to achieve unprecedented levels of wiping out hours of other people's work in seconds. Can you be so considerate as to provide me with an explanation or justification. (Cmcollins (talk) 12:15, 8 July 2009 (UTC))

I have replied on this user's talk page. Ale_Jrbtalk 14:56, 8 July 2009 (UTC)

Ale_jrb, You did put a generic boiler plate response that did not at all respond to my remarks above. You also seemed to indicate you'd render whatever further work I invested mute. Can you let me know why I as a rational person [e.g. my likelihood and path of an appeal to a higher authority] might be worth further investment of time on my part. (Cmcollins (talk) 01:33, 9 July 2009 (UTC))

I have replied on this user's talk page. Ale_Jrbtalk 09:32, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

In your last remark on my page you wrote: "Rmemeber, if you assert notability (without proving it) it cannot be speedily deleted, but it can still be deleted in a deletion debate." How is it that I am not asserting notability when the link from http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Carnaval_San_Francisco says she is the "founder of the most important annual event the San Francisco Bay Area: Carnaval San Francisco" (Cmcollins (talk) 11:30, 10 July 2009 (UTC)).

I have replied on this user's talk page. Ale_Jrbtalk 11:36, 10 July 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for your time and help understanding the notability guideline of wikipedia.org I will give "Adela Chu" another go in a little bit when I complete some front-burner projects (Cmcollins (talk) 10:41, 11 July 2009 (UTC))

Fiddling with CSDH

Hiya Ale jrb, and thanks for the wonderful script, I use it a lot. I have made some changes ... and since it links to your script page in the edit summary, I guess you should know what you might get blamed for!

Most of the time on G11, my edit summary is "G11. Please see WP:WHYNOT.", and most A7s are "A7. No independent sources, no suggestion that they exist, and no significant hits at google.com/archivesearch. See A7 on "importance or significance"." There is consensus that we not change the drop-down default deletion reasons, because they're considered to be an important clue for the clueless; however, for admins who know what they're doing, there's been a lot of discussion at WT:CSD about using softer and more specific deletion summaries, and these are the ones that seem to be working for me. If you'd prefer that I not use these summaries, or not blame them on CSDH, please let me know.

I've also changed all the tagger-notification messages to this (and similar): "I declined the speedy deletion of [page] - a page you tagged - because: '+csdHController.declineReason+' Feel free to discuss this or anything else about [[WP:CSD|speedy deletions] on my talk page." (Watching) - Dank (push to talk) 18:45, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

Hey Dank. I have no problems with you changing it however you want; it really doesn't bother me either way :). Thought I'd point out, however, that the big list of configuration options at the top means changing the script directly is mostly unnecessary, but like I said, feel free to use whatever you want. Ale_Jrbtalk 18:50, 12 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. - Dank (push to talk) 18:53, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

You've got your edit summary parameters the wrong way round

This edit [1] was fine, but the edit summary wasn't. Philip Trueman (talk) 10:38, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for poking me :) - I have actually fixed this (I noticed it as well), as it shouldn't happen again. Hope I didn't cause you any undue wikistress. Ale_Jrbtalk 10:43, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
No, not at all. I'd seen it before in early releases of Huggle. So what's igloo? Some new take on an anti-vandalism tool? Philip Trueman (talk) 11:08, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm sure it can't be just me that finds it odd that in a custom rollback summary, it is $2 that holds the 'reverted by' and $1 that holds the 'to revision by'... so you have to use 'Reverted edits by $2 to last version by $1...' to get what you want. Anyway...
igloo is, indeed, my anti-vandalism tool. It's awesome, 'cos it's JavaScript, so it works from the browser and doesn't need downloads, installation or a specific operating system. Woo. Almost usable, too, though it's totally unfinished and missing most of its features. :) Ale_Jrbtalk 11:19, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I'm with you on most of that - see User:Philip Trueman/PILT for my own approach. My JS skills are very basic, and it shows ... Philip Trueman (talk) 11:27, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
Nifty. I remember that good 'ole days of Lupin's tool... I intend to properly stress-test the tool in the (relatively-ish) near future; you're welcome to try it out when that time comes. Ale_Jrbtalk 11:37, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I was going to comment on this edit summary, but it looks like it has been addressed. Thanks after the fact! / edg 19:29, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
I got both of you :O. Sorry! :) Ale_Jrbtalk 19:31, 13 July 2009 (UTC)

Thank You

Dear Ale jrb,

Thank you for alerting me of the fact they already may have been blocked.

I forgot to check!

The one I have just submitted I have checked

igloo is in developer mode, and was rejecting your connections on purpose. You will find it will now allow you to connect. Ale_Jrbtalk 13:25, 17 July 2009 (UTC)
I have found a bug. You need to remove the / on the end of the URL which is in the Toolbox on the left as Wikipedia interprets it as a different page than without a /
Temporarily I have set up a redirect for you!
