Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Odeon Budokan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page David Briggs. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 05:58, 12 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Freedom (Neil Young album), without citing a reliable source. Information icon Hi Alcuin! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Tonight's the Night (Neil Young album) several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.

All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Tonight's the Night (Neil Young album), please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. Binksternet (talk) 01:23, 30 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for updating that article. I saw them on that tour, in Europe (Porno for Pyros opened: it was very strange)--I was not blown away, and I never cared for the album. You think I should give it another chance? Drmies (talk) 01:38, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for noticing. It's cool you got to see him on that tour. I've only seen him during the 2006 CSNY tour and at one of the last Bridge shows. Anyway, it's not exactly my favorite Neil album. Toast is probably better. But I thought I could expand the article. I've been working on fleshing out each of his album pages over the last few months. It's been a fun little project. It's helped me rediscover Landing on Water and Mirror Ball for example, both of which I really love now. Alcuin (talk) 01:47, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Whoa, I actually don't even own Landing on Water--but Mirror Ball, oh god it's so good. It is one of my favorites, has been since it came out. Ha, "featuring Pearl Jam"--I never thought of it that way, though I think of Jack Irons, but I'm a Peppers fan before I'm even knowledgeable about Pearl Jam. I saw Neil Young one other time, also in the Netherlands, playing with Crazy Horse in a medium-sized venue, probably in the late 90s, early 2000s; that was a good show too, with the, whatever that organ is that Poncho plays in "Hurricane", being lowered from the top, funny. Seriously, thanks for working on all those articles. Ima go see what I don't have, haha, and order it for under the Christmas tree. Drmies (talk) 02:30, 18 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Sources for Recording Dates

[edit]

Hey, was wondering if you could point me in the direction of the source where you get the info for recording dates for specific songs on Neil Young albums. Not because I think they’re inaccurate, I just think it’d be beneficial to be able to have a concrete citation for that info in case it gets challenged and to be able to also mention the recording dates with citations in the bodies of those articles. Like right now I’m working on expanding Hawks & Doves and it'd be really helpful for me to have something directly stating where each song on side one originates from; I know "Little Wing" and "Captain Kennedy" come from Homegrown and Hitchhiker respectively, but I can't find any info on the dates on which "The Old Homestead" and "Lost in Space" were recorded. I don’t believe that info's on the vinyl packaging either (at least not on my copy, unlike Stars 'n Bars)

Thanks! Elephantranges (talk) 23:35, 23 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Elephantranges. Hope you are well. Thank you for your work on the Neil pages. You are right, I should provide sources for the recording information. 98% of it comes from neilyoungarchives.com website, where there is an info card for each song. The information is probably as accurate as it can be, but I think his team makes some educated guesses. The dates provided there generally only state the date the backing track was recorded, so when there is additional documentation of overdub dates, I also provide that. For example Like a Hurricane or Look out for My Love. Some dates are copied from the liner notes of the two Archives box sets, which are consistent with his website. Hope this answers your question. Hello. Regarding your additions to Neil Young's album articles and the articles for several other artists, copying entire paragraphs from multiple published sources is a significant copryight violation issue. Please see WP:COPYVIO. I'm surprised you are either not aware of this or have not been made aware of this. Wikipedia encourages and prefers users to WP:PARAPHRASE instead of copying entire quotes. The amount you have copied to each article is of concern. I'm not opposed to quotes myself but they need to be used in moderation. I don't think we need a direct quote from the artist on every facet of an album's recording or the meaning behind each song. Please try to cut down both the amount you copy and the amount of sources you copy from in future for your own sake, otherwise you will probably be eventually brought up at the copyright noticeboard (WP:CCI) on Wikipedia. Repeatedly doing this and continuing to do so after being notified of the issue has gotten accounts blocked before. Please bear this in mind going forward: try to paraphrase and use quotes in moderation. Thanks. Ss112 05:20, 25 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
