Your username

[edit]

Welcome to Wikipedia, but I think would be advisable to request a change of username. The point is that Wikipedia accounts are for individuals only, who are personally responsible for them, and group accounts, or accounts whose names are the names of groups or organisations, are not permitted. I do not know whether your account actually represents an organization called "Digital Libraries", but even if it does not, it gives that impression.

Your username can be based on your real name, or not, as you prefer (see WP:REALNAME for some considerations), but it should not be the name of any other living person. A name of the form "James at Digital Libraries" would be acceptable.

To request a change of username, click on WP:Changing username, read to the bottom of that page, and then click on "Simple" and follow the instructions.

If you are editing on behalf of an organization, even with an individual username you should read the guidelines Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide.

Finally, the Welcome message above is on the overpowering side; nobody expects you to read all those pages, but I recommend WP:Your first article as a good starter. Regards, JohnCD (talk) 20:44, 8 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
