Thank you
Thanks for your reply to my request for help on the article I started, "Kimkins Controversy." I went thru some hoops to have speedy delete tags removed and the article was beefed up with decent sources and all the delete tags were removed (from what I could tell - this is my first foray into Wikipedia as a contributor). It was shaped up and I asked for help about categories & indexing - and you replied that it would just take a day or so to show up in searches.
Unfortunately, when I went back to check it out, admin bumm13 deleted the article with no explanation that I could understand ("vanity"?), and he has not replied to my inquiries about it. He doesn't appear to pay any attention to his talk page, and his userpage says to find him on irc, but gives no indication of WHERE on irc (he says channel #wikipedia, but not which server - undernet, efnet, dalnet?) so that's not helpful at all. I am getting lost in the bowels of Wikipedia!
I have entered a request to have the article's content restored so that I can at least copy it and put it the sandbox to work on. I have the support of another admin for the challenge procedure, which I will go read up on now. I had no idea what was involved in Wikipedia and I don't know that I have the time to devote to all of this but I appreciate your help and I will try to stick with it a bit more to figure out what's going on with this article. Sorry to be so longwinded. Any feedback or additional info would be appreciated! Thank you! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kathycha (talk • contribs) 04:25, 8 October 2007 (UTC)

Very helpful info you provided - thanks so much. I'm making my way through the process. It's not pretty, but I'll get there! Thanks again for your help. Kathycha 16:50, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
Ahhh, back for more help Master Scripter! ;)
Ok, I'm working on a random picture display from the previous quotes script you helped with. It does the same thing but instead of pulling and outputting quotes, it pulls and outputs pictures. It's working somewhat except that it's creating 11 picture boxes, 10 of them empty. It should only be outputting 1 picture box. See my template here: User:Allstarecho/LGBTPicstemp and see the problem it's causing here: User:Allstarecho/LGBTPics. Any help fixing this issue would be most certainly appreciated. -- ALLSTAR ECHO 07:42, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- I tried several different ways to put the template within #ifeq with no luck. It either totally breaks the output or does nothing at all. -- ALLSTAR ECHO 09:45, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- You are total awesomeness! Thank you! -- ALLSTAR ECHO 09:55, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- OK, one more thing. I'm done with it and have now placed it on my user page using {{User:Allstarecho/LGBTPics}}. It's supposed to be right under the LGBT quote output where it says WP:LGBT QUOTE OF THE DAY. However, it's doing something really screwy and putting it down under my On the road again... section and has trashed other tables and div layers unrelated to LGBTPicstemp. What can I do to fix this? -- ALLSTAR ECHO 11:34, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Well, what I expect to happen other than what it's doing is it to be in its own tidy little box, which it is when by itself such as when viewing it at LGBTPics. But once placed on other pages that also use div layer boxes, such as my user page, it trashes the other div layers and such. It should be in a nice, tidy box right under the quotes on my user page but instead it has distorted my whole page, causing other div boxes on there to malform and it's placing the picture box down towards the bottom way off where it's supposed to be. -- ALLSTAR ECHO 19:13, 8 October 2007 (UTC)
- Excellent adivice with the {{-}} tag. I implemented it and it was causing a good bit of dead space above and below the output so I changed it to {{clear}} and that fixed the dead space issue. Now, any idea why the output has so much dead space on the left and right? See it in action here: User:Allstarecho Once I get that fixed, it looks like it'll be ready for release. And I do want you to know I appreciate all of the help and advice you've given and the work you've done! -- ALLSTAR ECHO 18:53, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
- Looks like I figured it out. Again, thanks for all of your help and advice! :) -- ALLSTAR ECHO 00:27, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Hello Ais523, I seem to be having trouble with your catwatch script. After I added it to my monobook.js file and cleared the cache, I checked my watchlist and a message appeared. So I followed it and it lead me to my watched categories.js file, after I filled it in and cleared the cache again, and checked my watchlist the message still keeps appearing. Any help you can give, will be appreiciated.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions) 00:19, 10 October 2007 (UTC)
- I am using IE7, BTW did you check my "watched categories.js" file (the problem might be there). And thanks for replying to my problem.--Sunny910910 (talk|Contributions) 22:33, 10 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi Ais523. Thanks for the information on the talk page of Marc A. Kastner[1]. I still believe that something about the article should be mentioned on the talk page. Spam on New Contributors Help Page?
Hi, thought I'd ask your help on this one. What do you do when you suspect blatant advertising on New Contributors Help Page? It looks to me like this edit is such, but I'm not sure hence consulting. MarkMarek 20:14, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
- Moonriddengirl responded to it in the meantime, and afterwards another edit was made from what appears to be a different username, but the edit has procisely same structure and is also geared towards nothing but apparent promotion of the site. MarkMarek 20:53, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

You're totally correct that articles aren't usually deleted on the subject's wishes, but I suspect a deletion might be in order here. First of all, though admittedly my knowledge of UK soccer clubs isn't all that solid, I have never even heard of a club by that name and I suspect his club - and thus by extension Sean - isn't noteworthy. Also, searching for his name +soccer or football in Google gets quite some hits, but based on a cursory glance of the first few pages, not all of them correlate and quite a few don't have useful information in them. Unless someone can do a more detailed search than I can, I suspect there are no useful sources to base an article on. And THAT is crucial when the subject doesn't want the article. - Mgm|(talk) 11:30, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
- An article on the club would be certainly be deleted at AfD as would Mr Caldwell's article. I'm off to speedy them both under CSD A7. No point being bureaucratic about it. Angus McLellan (Talk) 15:50, 19 October 2007 (UTC)

Just a note of appreciation for the category watchlist script. I'm only using it for {{helpme}} but I'm sure I'll find other uses in the future. By the way, I had the same problem when I initially loaded the script that is reported higher on this page, and the same fix worked for me. Need your help from vandalism!
Hello,
I hope you don't mind me contacting you.
Could you please assist me to protect our main userpage from vandalism. We are aware who the user is and the matter is being dealt with by us. The offender has registered a website kaydanes.org which is a false and malicious attack made by a person that is known to us, against our client [Kerry and Kay Danes].
The offender details can be provided should you require. We would request a protection page on all material on the site in the interests of protecting our client from further defamation.
Thank you for your assistance and we look forward to your support and guidance.

Stub tag
Hi, you probably already know this, but in your "stub tag" script, you may find a line like this:
document.getElementById('wpPreview').click();
If you change to say:
document.getElementById('wpSave').click();
it will automatically save instead of just previewing. As an option, you may want to add this in somewhere to give people an option (but it's your choice!). I just wanted to know what you thought of this. Thanks jj137 (Talk) 15:41, 3 November 2007 (UTC)

A request
Hello Ais523. Please delete a category Category:Quantum theory physicists. The name should have been 'Category:Quantum physicists'. I have created a new category Category:Quantum physicists and recategorized all the pages. Regards, Masterpiece2000 13:32, 3 November 2007 (UTC)
And, please deleted the category Category:Alumni and faculty of Moscow State University. I have created two seperate categories - Category:Moscow State University alumni and Category:Moscow State University faculty and recategorized all the pages. Regards, Masterpiece2000 06:05, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thank you for the help. Category:Alumni and faculty of Moscow State University simply doesn't make any sense. It fails to tell whether a person is an alumni or faculty member of the Moscow State University. Thus, I split the category. Masterpiece2000 04:43, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
Categorising
Ok, thanks I understand I can't categorise sections. How about where individual articles on each person were initially created but each now redirects to the group article. Is it possible to leave the categorisation on the individual article or will the REDIRECT also include the categorisation and thus REDIRECT to a categorisation of the group article ? -Sticks66 12:02, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

category watchlist
I'm trying to use your catwatchlist.js on Commons to watch just one category. I took the source and copied to my monobook.js (changing all en.wikipeida-->commons.wikimedia). I disabled the enhanced watchlist thing. Went to my watchedcats.js and added one category. It still thinks I have nothing there. I know it's not really your job to worry about it working on Commons, but if you could take a look, it'd be great. commons:User:Mike.lifeguard/monobook.js & commons:User:Mike.lifeguard/WatchedCategories.js – Mike.lifeguard | @en.wb 05:34, 9 November 2007 (UTC)

Interwiki links for Special:Contributions
I would like for there to be interwiki links in Special:Contributions as there are on Special:Recentchanges. Since single-user login seems distant on the horizon, I think standard interwiki links would make life a lot easier in the meanwhile.
If I want to see interwiki links for a given IP address, the simplest way to do it is to click on User:EVula's own interwiki links, then replace his user contributions with the username or IP of interest. There ought to be a better way.
I mention this because I think it would be extremely helpful in combating vandalism. Three of the recent IP addresses at the Simple English Vandalism in Progress (their equivalent of WP:AIV) all had substantial block logs on English Wikipedia. It looks like the vandals realized they couldn't get away with it on en.wiki, so they went to simple.wiki instead. This phenomenon is generally known for years already, but there still is no quick and easy way to check an IP's contribution logs on other Wikimedia wikis.
Please post this to bugzilla, the Village Pump, or wherever else it should be seen. Thanks, and best regards, Shalom (Hello • Peace) 15:04, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying. I saw the links at MediaWiki talk:Sp-contributions-footer, but I didn't see them at Special:Contributions itself. Could you please double-check to see that the interwiki links are actually appearing where you expect to see them? Shalom (Hello • Peace) 18:53, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
- I have commented out the interwiki list at MediaWiki:Sp-contributions-footer. 99% of the interwikis the page creates are non-working. The interwikis at Special:Recentchanges have existing targets, so this is not a similar situation. This needs to be discussed as we do not usually have dead interwikis, which means a change like this will cause confusion. Prolog (talk) 20:11, 28 November 2007 (UTC)
