  • General Comments:

- This page is very well organized so it is easy to read and it will make your lives easier as you begin to edit. - The owner of this page may want to create a separate space where they draft their own materials before adding them to the communal section. -All team members are strongly urged to adopt something like this since your sandboxes are going to grow exponentially (I see that you are all already starting to do that). -Another great example you want to keep your eyes on is here: https://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/User:Ayersmm/sandbox. This page adds the Wikipedia organizational structure as well and knowing how to do that will come in very handy. -Along with my comment on organization above, also kudos to you on the level of parallel structure for all entries. It is clear who is the lead on that, but the similar formatting makes navigation easy. - Embedding the article URLs is also going to prove useful to you all.

- The next thing you want to do is to begin incorporating your plan into your source list. You want to SHOW in addition to TELL. Go beyond listing sources and ask yourself: "How are other Wikipedians supposed to assess that these are good sources?" If you don't put the sources in context, how can that happen? What sorts of relevant information do they contain that will help you add needed content (also, what is that needed content?)? This becomes particularly critical when you post to the talk pages. Effective writers guide their readers rather than ask them to divine what the author's meaning and intention is. All of you do a great job of this in the posts to the talk pages. Follow that model and incorporate those notes on what information from the sources you have found will be good to include on the pages you are editing.

- As you move on, you will quickly begin to see a need/desire to add images. Make sure that you have completed the student training and you can also go here for a very comprehensive how-to and resources on contributing to Wikimedia. https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Contents

* Comments on Specific Sections:

-Chimera: The talk question you posted is great, It will be interesting to see where that goes. In particular, it will be great to follow up on specific structures of the anatomy that contribute to eating habits since that will keep topics as anatomical.

-Venom: Same idea. The physiology is very interesting, but you want to stick to the anatomy as much as possible. So, what is the systemic source of the venom? is it a skin gland? what do know about it. Also, is it venom or poison? Other taxa closely related to the chimera also produce toxins, this might be a good place to look.

-Egg casing: Look up the information on adding content, particulalry images. There may be images in the older literature that are now public domain. See the link above.

Your sandbox is so well organized and I really like the depth of detail that you go into.Osquaesitor (talk) 00:59, 11 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Peer Review:

Overall, great sources to potentially use. The specific information that all of you are planning to extract from these articles seem quite relevant and important to add into the wiki articles. However, I am unclear as to what each of your drafts for this edits will look like in the actual wiki article page.

Concerning the venom edit, these questions are great to answer throughout the dissection. Since it appears that the venom is excreted through the dorsal spines of the chimaera, just make sure to focus your edit on the anatomical structure of that spine and look for articles that talk about the glands that participate in producing/excreting the venom.

The potential edit for the egg cases, I agree, is necessary. So, do incorporate the evolutionary history of the egg capsules in the chimaera. Adding a phylogentic tree that portrays the evolutionary history of the egg cases would be appropriate to add into the section.

Lastly, it’s not that clear to me what anatomical structure you wish to focus on with the chimaera’s diet. By looking at the variety of prey that the chimaera consumes, do you intend to understand how and why it can eat different prey? Just be clear as to what anatomical structure you want to focus on. I am impressed with how thorough this page is. Great work on that. You seem to have a plethora of sources and information. My only critique would be that maybe you are getting a little carried away with the amount of sources and information you are compiling. It might be time to start narrowing your focus into what exactly you are going to write about and create more of an outline of actual edits rather than just sources. In general though I think this is a very sufficient start and I think you have a lot to go off of. Terhaaed (talk) 04:42, 24 March 2017 (UTC)terhaaed[reply]

The group page needs to be a bit more organized in itself and in the content box. Another organization issue I saw was that the content of everyones topic was separated and not in one section, nor with any names on who's section it was. The first section is a good start on the venom section, looking at how the venom is produced and from what gland. Are you going to be putting the comparing the rabbit fish venom with other lineages in your wiki edit? defeintly good start to looking at the mechanism and anatomy. The second section on egg case, only had an article citation and what you wanted to look at but out of that, what did you find? what about the egg is interesting and what is it composed of? Needs some work. Last section on rabbit fish need more information. What are you looking at in rabbit fish? needs a bit of work. Some sections have a good start other need a bit more work. good start guys.

Peer Review: You definitely have a lot of sources, which is an excellent start. Your page is nicely organized and easy to review. You also include the specifics as to what you could use the sources to talk about and change. You have done this in some cases, but it needs to be specifically written out as to what the changes would be on the page.

I would definitely start trying to make drafts of what you would say on the pages, as that needs to be reviewed as well. You have some starts to this by discussing things that could be changed, but not in the language of what that would look like on the article. Overall it looks like you have a lot of changes for each topic that are discussed, but need to be fleshed out into drafts. Good start, great resources, just keep working!!!Murry4329 (talk) 22:53, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

For Sophia: You explained greatly about the 1st source and how it can contribute to the wiki page of egg case (Chondrichthyes) overall. I agree with you about the need to add an evolutionary history of the chondrichthyan egg. It will be much more helpful with the diagram you find in the first resource. However, you didn't talk a lot the other two resources and how they could contribute to the wiki page respectively as well as why they are useful for you. More specifically, what is the purpose of the migratory sighting of chimaeras resource? What are information from there useful for your edit? What can be improved or edited on the wiki page using that information? You need to hyperlink the resources from EBSCO Host as well or any resources that you find in the future.

For Azana: All of your resources are really vague and doesn't seem to connect at all. What is the purpose of the first article when it focuses on about sex? Are you trying to talk about the reproductive structure? The second resource seems to be more related anatomically. Again, what can you add to the page? What's missing on the wiki page that needs to be added? The last resource looks to be a new section that you plan on doing. Are you going to create a new section on the wiki page and editing/improving information on another section? My guess is that you will be focusing on the diet of rabbit fish based on the latest update. However, what anatomical structure are you planning on dissecting? How can it be relevant to the fish diet?

For Chris: Good start of the resources and I think that you have a good plan in term of editing the venom of the chimera. Megamanhuy (talk) 23:30, 24 March 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Group suggestions and comments for week #12

Sophia: I like the last edit you posted last week. I found a good book at the library that has some additional information on egg cases. Also, an additional anatomical structure you could explore that is related to the egg cases is the cloaca. Just an idea that might be interesting.

Azana: Nice work on the last post. It was nice how you contrasted your fish diet idea with the type of teeth they possess. Looking forward to seeing what we will find in the skull after the tissue is finished coming off. I wonder if the jaw suspension could be another good area to research.
