Yes. I think I am from Ahangama. My mother is from Kandy. So, I was brought up there. As most mothers do, she tried to shield her children from the father's relatives. But I love Ahangama -- only have passed it by. Who doesn't like the ocean? I think my blood is much the same as in those people that fish on stilts over there (I hope and wish they all did not perish due to the Tsunami.)

Pissu, I am sorry I did not come here for a long time (to see your message). We can talk more if you could email me (jcATlanANDwan.com). I am locatd in TX. But I am planning to go to SL and teach at a Buddhist temple affiliated school in a rural town not too far from Ahangama. Sorry I can't remember the name of the place. By the way, you can write Sinhala more accuratly if you use the US-International keyboard (You know what that means if you are German) æþþaða = Attada. (æ=AltGr+z, þ=AltGr+t, ð=AltGr+d).

I have even a better thing for Sinhala -- a smartfont that transliterates Latin chars to Sinhala Chars. You might like to see it.

I removed a large chunk from this page -- the alphabet w/o traditional characters. The opinion I've heard among the Sinhalese is that the alphabet with actual Sinhala characters should be placed above everything. I agree. So I removed the alphabet I put there originally, until the traditional one is ready.

Now, to my problem: Look at the page! It is repeating the Unicode table and other items. Pleas help me to clean up the mess I created.

Now it is 8 years since I came here. I would like help on linking a web font here or placing it here so it could be used to write Singhala. These are the style lines I use in my web pages: @font-face{font-family:singfont;src:url(http://smartfonts.net/woff/samagana.woff) format("woff")} .sing{font-family:singfont;text-rendering:geometricPrecision;font-feature-settings: "liga" 1;}

That is romanized Singhala rendered as native script. People do weird things for fun. And people that do not know Singhala or those have their interests threatened might call it weird. This is a serious solution for Singhala. It does not compromise anything and supports three languages that the script is used for: Singhala, Sanskrit and Pali. It has been a forward-looking solution and technology implementation has arrived where it was created for. That is, OpenType is nearly universally supported. Wikipedia is open to all sides of information, right?

I'm not quite sure what you intend. Wikipedia already has a Sinhalese font (Unicode, I expect); see the Sinhala alphabet article for examples of that script. In fact there's an entire Sinhalese Wikipedia written in Sinhalese. So there seems to be no need to add a different writing system for Sinhalese to Wikipedia. If you just want to publish your web font, you're in the wrong place: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a free web host. Huon (talk) 20:39, 29 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you Huon. I suppose you are not a Singhalese. I am one. I want to say that there is an alternative to the Unicode Singhala that claims to be user friendly, grammar compliant and supports all three languages that Singhala is used to write, Singhala, Sanskrit and Pali.
