Talk with SqueakBox

[edit]

hi, thank you for the welcome. i'll post my full reply on your discussion page.

If I made a mistake I apologise. Keep up the good edits, SqueakBox June 28, 2005 17:25 (UTC)

That's OK — my pleasure. Have you tried the IMDb? Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 28 June 2005 15:55 (UTC)

With categories, they get added to the pages being categorised, and then the link shows up on the category page. You've been added. -- Francs2000 | Talk 30 June 2005 22:33 (UTC)

GTA

[edit]

I came to the realization that GTA & Manhunt were in continuity with each other the very same moment I learned it was Carcer City in Manhunt, not Sin City (I read the game box). I've also heard that Carcer was mentioned in the original GTA radio dialogue, too. --Zeromaru 5 July 2005 14:53 (UTC)

Bolton

[edit]

No problem. In the future, when you add someone to a category, make sure you use the "|Last name, First name" in the listing... It makes sure they're sorted properly. --Dr31 5 July 2005 19:05 (UTC)

Lower league football teams

[edit]

You're right, we do need to get the squads for lower league teams up to scratch... the only reason I hadn't done it was because I was really lazy. I was working on a neat system to work around them, but it never really came to anything. Any help you could provide would be much appreciated. Thank you very much. Bobo192|Edits

Leeds etc

[edit]

Okay, cheers mate. Seems this IP is from Huddersfield, SqueakBox 20:52, July 12, 2005 (UTC)

I'm glad it got sorted out; I wasn't around when you left the message. (I'm a bit puzzled, though — why didn't you revert it yourself?) --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 23:00, 12 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]
The easiest way is to go in to the page history and choose the last unvandalised version. Go into that, edit it, and save (with the edit summary that you're reverting the vandalism). I hope that that's clear. On this page, for example, you go to the history, click on the time.date og the version you want to go back to (for example my previous edit), and then edit it as though you were editing any page. There'll be a message warning you that you're editing an out-of-date version, but ignore that — just save. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 06:55, 13 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Wiki projects

[edit]

I don't know, to be honest — but Wikipedia:Village pump is probably a good place to start looking. --Mel Etitis (Μελ Ετητης) 16:28, 13 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed your query to Mel. You could try Wikicities which is about wikis and not about cities, SqueakBox 16:46, July 13, 2005 (UTC)

re: Trilogy

[edit]
Ok, i see your point -- as GTA Trilogy page has more & better info than GTA series, can i just put the current GTA Trilogy page onto the GTA (series) Page? Agent003
Yes a merge should be fine, but make sure you're not killing existing content in the process, most especially the description beside each game. GarrettTalk 10:14, 14 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Vandalism is reported at Wikipedia:Vandalism in progress, SqueakBox 16:43, July 18, 2005 (UTC)

re: Found some non-notable GTA articles.

[edit]

I found two articles related to non-very-known business outlets in Grand Theft Auto III (see Bitchin' Dog Food and Easy Credit Autos). Aside their presence in the game, there isn't much else that could be said about them. Perhaps a vfd on them are in order. ╫ 25 chattergrafitti 07:50, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

After looking at both pages, i only see the need to delete Easy Credit Autos as it has no relavance to the game. Bitchin' Dog Food, however, should stay as it features in about 5 missions. - Agent003
I've redirected Easy Credit Autos. Far easier than go to all the trouble of a Vfd to get the obvious outcome. Hope that helps. :) GarrettTalk 11:23, 19 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy tags

[edit]

Do not remove speedy tags from articles you have created. —Cryptic (talk) 18:44, 24 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. —Cryptic (talk) 18:49, 24 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. —Cryptic (talk) 18:52, 24 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please don't re-create articles that have previously been deleted by a VfD discussion, or remove speedy tags from articles you have created. If you feel that the article really should exist, please see Wikipedia:Votes for undeletion first, instead of unilaterally re-creating the article. Thanks, JYolkowski // talk 19:11, 24 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Also, please don't vandalise other users' user pages. Doing so will get you blocked. Thanks again, JYolkowski // talk 19:52, 24 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Leaving Wikipedia

[edit]

I would encourage you to reconsider your departure from Wikipedia. A few things to consider:

  • In any sufficiently large group of people, there will always be some people with whom you will not work well. Understand this axiom, and adapt rather than getting perturbed by this reality.
  • It can be all too easy for some users to become frustrated when the changes/additions they make to Wikipedia are significantly changed or removed. Understand that you are contributing to a large body of work, and your voice is but one in a maelstrom. The beauty of Wikipedia is the ability for anyone to edit; if you are not ready to let your contributions go, you will be frustrated. You can influence how an article evolves, but you can not control it.
  • You are a newcomer to Wikipedia. It takes time to learn the ins and outs of this wonderful resource. What a new user thinks should happen in Wikipedia is often not what will happen. This can lead to frustration on the part of the new user.

Don't get mad; get better! --Durin 15:35, 25 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I endorse this view. I would have advised you to wait till the autumn to apply for adminship. Do come back, SqueakBox 14:08, July 26, 2005 (UTC)

    • My dear Agent003, please be around and do not get disheartened so fast. I am sure wikipedia is a nice experience. Please reconsider your decision. --Bhadani 18:21, 30 July 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Spelling on RFA

[edit]

You asked what the spelling errors were in your answers to the questions on RFA. Primarily you forgot to capitalize 'i'. You also forgot the apostrophe in 'ive' (S/B I've). And upto is 2 words (up to, according to dictionary.com, I had to check).

And in your question about what the errors were you forgot to capitalize i, forgot the apostrophe in cant and forgot to capitalize because (i.e. Because I can't see them. Or was that recursive humor?)

You may want to cut-and-paste your edits into a text editor with real time spell checking (or batch spell checking) to look for errors that you are too close to see. I do it (but not often enough).

You seemed to be getting frustrated with the process (and your user page says you're leaving). I hope you'll check back at least enough to read this answer and to let me tell you not to let them get you down. (Yeah, I know, that's a big help). Just walk away from it for a bit, take a deep breath and then go edit something interesting. That and ignore them, they're idiots. RJFJR 03:24, July 26, 2005 (UTC)

Warning sign
This image may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Bolton_reebok.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the image qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --OrphanBot 10:01, 27 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Kev Nolan.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Longhair 09:22, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:Gudni.JPG

[edit]
Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Gudni.JPG. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

Image tagging for Image:CRM05.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:CRM05.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Orphaned non-free image (Image:GTA Logo.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:GTA Logo.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 18:19, 14 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

GTA IV

[edit]

Hiya, I don't know if you even bother with wikipedia anymore! But on the eve of GTA IV's release, I'd like to personally say well done on being the first contributer to its wikipedia article. Hope you enjoy the game you've clearly waited so long to play. (PS - Why did you leave? The article doesnt seem to have ever been deleted?!) Again, congrads! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.212.141.71 (talk) 15:43, 28 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
