Thank you—and thanks for the heads up regarding artist dealers and promotion! Afterthedisaster (talk) 17:41, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

No sweat. It's also covered under WP:EL. We typically just try to link to one or two things that are highly relevant, and the least promotional choices possible.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 17:43, 4 May 2020 (UTC)

COI

Hello! Just a quick question: do you have any connection to Jayce Salloum (know him, have worked with him etc)? Thanks. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 18:57, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello there. No connection other than having written a dissertation on Contemporary Lebanese artists. Will likely move onto editing others (e.g. Walid Raad and Akram Zaatari in particular) at some point. Afterthedisaster (talk) 19:04, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
OK thanks for that! We are overrun with editors with COI pushing personal points of view, so this question sometimes has to be asked. Your honesty and contributions are appreciated. Welcome aboard, and let me know if you need any editing help. ThatMontrealIP (talk) 19:09, 19 May 2020 (UTC)
Thank you for your offer of help. Will let you know if I have any questions. Cheers! Afterthedisaster (talk) 19:22, 19 May 2020 (UTC)

Original research

Hello! I took out some of your recent additions to Jayce Salloum. This is not an essay site, and we don't draw original conclusions in articles ("The question might be posed as such: how does one represent or make sense of a self in the present when all one leaves behind are traces of a past life, of a self continually in transition?"). We also very much try to avoid material written by the subject as a source for a claim. One thing to be aware of is that we are very different operation than academia: we are just reporting on what others have written on the subject, in as neutral a way as possible. There is no space here for research, new ideas of synthesized conclusions. Have a look at WP:OR and WP:NOTESSAYfor details.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 20:17, 21 May 2020 (UTC)

Hello. I think the reference to other Lebanese artists is most certainly relevant, and should not be removed. This version:

https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=Jayce_Salloum&oldid=958059275 but with the final quote block removed, seems to suffice and meet WP:OR. Afterthedisaster (talk) 20:30, 21 May 2020 (UTC)

You;re writing an academic essay there, with limited encyclopedic information.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 20:40, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
I don't think the statement on Raad, Joreige, et al is academic, and is in fact germane to the entry. Afterthedisaster (talk) 20:43, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
@ThatMontrealIP: re: citation needed for the claim—the citation is each inline WP link to each artist. Their entries all reference the archive.Afterthedisaster (talk) 21:01, 21 May 2020 (UTC)
