[edit]

You are suspected of sockpuppetry, which means that someone suspects you of using multiple Wikipedia accounts for prohibited purposes. Please make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, then, if you wish to do so, respond to the evidence at [[Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/{{{1}}}]]. Please review Wikipedia's guidelines for contributions.

In addition, please do not attempt to make edits from several different IPs to hide your identity. –Sincerely, A Lime 02:06, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I just forgot to log in for one comment, chill Affinepplan (talk) 02:09, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop your disruptive editing.

If you continue to disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Later-no-harm criterion, you may be blocked from editing. Aydoh8 (talk | contribs) 02:41, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

hi @Aydoh8, I understand that the original author is upset by these edits and may be describing them as "disruptive." However I assure you that the deletions of those sections make the article *better*, not worse. Affinepplan (talk) 02:47, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Looks like you and @Closed Limelike Curves (across multiple accounts) have been edit warring for a while. From the way I'm reading the room, we might have to take this to ANI to be resolved there if this pattern continues, which could lead to a topic ban for both you and CLC. For the meantime, I ask that you stop editing this article and others associated. Thanks. Aydoh8 (talk | contribs) 02:59, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
maybe the article should be deleted entirely? I just don't want politically-motivated misinformation on technical articles Affinepplan (talk) 03:01, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The right way to deal with this situation is not to continually revert edits, whether you agree with them or not. For this reason, Wikipedia has a three-revert rule to avoid edit wars. I'm just trying to avoid having to refer this to the administrators' noticeboard, which can result in sanctions such as topic bans and blocks. If you keep engaging in edit warring, I'm afraid I'll have no choice. Aydoh8 (talk | contribs) 03:06, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
look, I am not really familiar with wikipedia bureaucracy. you can do whatever moderation you need to or is customary.
all I know is that I know a lot about the topic in the article, as well as about a certain community of amateurs who create their own body of "research." most of this amateur work is completely devoid of rigor and is highly politically motivated. for the most part it stays on `https://electowiki.org/` and various fora scattered around the internet, but in this example (and a few other articles) it has leaked to wikipedia
I am trying to remove this low-quality content when I see it. The "edit war" is occurring because presumably @Closed Limelike Curves is a member of the aforementioned amateur community and has taken offense to my suggestions that the content lacks rigor. let me know whatever is the "proper" way to delete the offending passages and prevent the author from re-instating them and I will be happy to do so Affinepplan (talk) 03:22, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Either way, it looks like I am referring this to ANI and will let them conduct a more in-depth investigation. I will say though that the most likely outcome is that a topic ban on politics-related will be placed on both of you, broadly construed. I'm not interested in arguing. Aydoh8 (talk | contribs) 03:25, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Might I add, the albeit miniscule edit history of this account as well as that of these IPs suggests you are a sockpuppet of @Jannikp97. I will refer to CheckUsers via SPI to determine whether this is the case. If it is found to be true, all of the aforementioned accounts and IPs will be indefinitely blocked. Aydoh8 (talk | contribs) 03:21, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
we are different users 🙄 Affinepplan (talk) 03:23, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm pretty skeptical that they and @Jannikp97 are related. Jannikp is fairly new to Wikipedia, but so far I've found him to be a respectful, helpful, and well-informed editor. He's made a substantial number of valuable contributions to several articles in the election methods community, and I'd be very happy to vouch for his integrity. –Sincerely, A Lime 03:52, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
then why did you revert his corrections to the article? Affinepplan (talk) 04:12, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wikipedia:BOLD, revert, discuss cycle –Sincerely, A Lime 04:19, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To clarify: I reverted one edit by Jannik today while leaving the other untouched. I then left a comment on the talk page mentioning Jannikp97. I mentioned that I think some of the claims he removed from the article are not as well-sourced as they could be, but I do think they're both correct and important, so I plan to introduce further citations to support them. –Sincerely, A Lime 04:49, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
> not as well-sourced as they could be
understatement of the year? the "source" is a political organization's commentary about a political rival.
and even if the statements were true, and even if you could find sources for them, they're still off-topic for the article in question.
anyway, wikipedia editing seems too bureaucratic to waste much more time on. Affinepplan (talk) 13:06, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi Aydoh, very sorry to bother you with this! Could you provide more details on what makes you think I've been edit warring across multiple accounts? I believe I made one other account a long time ago, but I haven't used it in years.
So far, I'm aware of 2 edits by Affinepplan that I've reverted in the past 24 hours. I might have reverted a handful of edits of his about a month ago. Unfortunately, I can't be 100% sure, because the edits seem to be coming from 2-3 separate accounts or IP addresses. However, after Affinepplan's third reversion, I decided to request page protection on the article and gave a warning. While my response may have been a bit too strict, I'm concerned about this kind of edit warring from a brand-new user after some recent revelations about COI edits on pages related to instant-runoff.
Given Affinepplan's very short edit history, I warned the user, then filed a request for page protection rather than attempting a third revert. –Sincerely, A Lime 04:15, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Honestly seems like pretty baseless accusations, I do not think either of the two used multiple accounts here... Jannikp97 (talk) 08:24, 9 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Affinepplan. I have closed the AN3 complaint with extended confirmed protection of the article, and with a warning to you. If you have been editing contested articles with both an account and an IP address you are risking an indefinite block per our sockpuppet policy. Let me know if you have any questions. yes, I saw. @Closed Limelike Curves doesn't like the fact that I am trying to push back on his soapboxing and disruptive vandalism to a large number of social choice related articles, and is turning to Wikipedia bureaucracy to get their way. Affinepplan (talk) 19:50, 19 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
