Your pic

[edit]

Image:Persians.jpg is not appropriate because it includes Zoroaster as a "Persian person," which he is not. Please change appropriately. Thanks. The Behnam 16:12, 21 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not obligated to take up the fight on that page. How about you just replace Zoroaster with someone who is definitely from Pars? The Behnam 18:47, 22 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, since you are the one calling him "Persian", the burden is on you to prove this with decent sources. Of course, if you had even a little background in this subject, you'd know that Zoroaster was certainly not from the "Pars" province. He is on the list of Iranians because he was certainly a member of an Iranian people. For starters, try the Iranica article [1] - "One of the most vexing problems for a history of Zoroastrianism is the location of Zarathustra in time and place. While there is general agreement that he did not live in western Iran, attempts to locate him in specific regions of eastern Iran, including Central Asia, remain tentative." While it may be safe to call him an "Airya" or something like that, he isn't from Pars, but from somewhere in the Eastern Iranian areas, and that is where he ministered. The Behnam 20:36, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Now for your defense before you continue to promote your pet picture? The burden was on you, after all. I did you a favor by providing you a good source for his Eastern Iranian origin. The Behnam 18:09, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Abbas Jadidi

[edit]

On another note, I don't know where you picture of Abbas Jadidi is from, but it certainly could be used in the article Abbas Jadidi. Can you please put it in? The Behnam 18:34, 24 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Persians.jpg and 3RR

[edit]

Please take part in the Discussion page for Persian people, as of right now your unilateral action is only working against the 3 revert rule; changing something that was determined on consensus in the talk page for Persian people. If you can adequately address the picture issue on the talk page, then maybe we can go back to that image. As of right now, this is a polite warning. --Bobak 20:51, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I do not think I am making this quite clear enough, if you do not stop making reverts without consensus you will be blocked. There is an extensive conversation going on here and it is the responsibility of editors to take part in discussions. While no one as anything personal against the picture you created, there are several major problems: (1) the photo of Abbas Jadid are of unclear copyright status, (2) the photo of Zoroaster appears to be fair use and it isn't clear if there is sufficient reason to allow it in other articles and (3) it is not clear whether Zoroaster would qualify for the subject of the article --so we've tried to come up with people without any controversy. --Bobak 21:45, 29 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I am an admin. Please don't take this personally, we appreciate the work you've put into the image you created --it's just that there are a number of hoops we all have to jump through to get a photo that is (1) agreeable by all interested parties and (2) free and clear as far as legal issues are concerned. --Bobak 17:59, 3 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
