You and I were reverting that strange e-mail on FR at the same moment. That was an odd contribution. What in the world did it mean?
paul klenk talk 17:08, 4 October 2005 (UTC)
- Giving the contributor the benefit of the doubt, I assumed he or she mistook the article for the talk page. Either that or there's some serious non-grokkage of what Wikipedia is supposed to be. -Abe Dashiell 17:18, 4 October 2005 (UTC)
Agreement!
Hey Adashiel, very nice defense of how Wikipedia should treat webcomics. I'm definitely of the same mind. Nice to meet you. Philip Taron 09:19, 13 October 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks. I hope one day we'll have a more concrete set of guidelines for Webcomics. That would make defending their place in Wikipedia a bit easier. -Abe Dashiell 13:26, 14 October 2005 (UTC)
Apologies
Hi Mr. Dashiell, there is more than one Wikipedian at the IP address of 216.54.1.206, and he is unlikely to get your message regarding the Obsidian article, however, since I have seen the message and know who changed the article, I'll inform him of the issue the next time I see him. --Justin Hirsh 21:49, 19 October 2005 (UTC)
Webcomics debate getting uglier again
I thought a day or two ago we were going to get some kind of consensus, but things seem to have gone very sour today, especially in Wikipedia_talk:Websites#Conflicts_of_interest. Since you generally disagree with me, but seem to be interested in gaining some kind of consensus, can you take a look at it? I've been trying very hard to compromise, and I fear I may have taken too hard a line, but I don't think the issue is invalid, and snowspinner hasn't responded to it in a very constructive way. But maybe I'm out of line, which is why I'm asking your opinion. Can you let me know what do you think? -- SCZenz 06:58, 28 October 2005 (UTC)

Chewbacca Defense
My removal of the extensive transcript of the Chewbacca Defense wasn't vandalism. It's akin to posting all the lyrics to a song on an individual song's page. Why not just link the article to a transcript? This is an original encyclopedia, we shouldn't be quoting ten-minute segments of television shows.
- It was linked off-site, though, which makes maintenance difficult. –Abe Dashiell (t/c) 20:22, 1 December 2005 (UTC)
- But what are we maintaining? The script is not going to change. Again, you don't include lyrics of songs in an article, and ten-minute excerpts from TV shows are even worse.
- Better yet, I've got a sensible compromise. Let's add it to Wikiquote.
- Yes, that's a good solution. –Abe Dashiell (t/c) 20:27, 1 December 2005 (UTC)

Admin?
Hi there, I was just wondering whether or not you were an admin. With 3417 (and counting) edits, you must either be an admin, or plan to be an admin. 500+ edits today it seems - are you locked in, might I ask? And lastly, hypothetically speaking, if I were to run for a janitor post, would I have your vote - I'd prefer to poll now than to poll when it counts. Thanks. --Master Jay 02:55, 9 December 2005 (UTC)

To Adashiel
If you can plainly see another user had vandalized User:Koguryo page. Koguryo did not write the statement on his user page that's why I deleted it. Korea is derived from Koguryo so really the statement would be going against himself and that wouldn't make sense.

please help
User:Keithlaw is deleting other users votes as well as my comments from the AFD discussion about GH avisualagency. he is also accusing me of using sock puppets and i am not. There has to be a way to prove all of this. please help.
please see the history link below for one example of this.
- I just now deleted Lerner's comment that a vote was a user's first edit, when in fact it was not. In the link Lerner posted above, I restored two comments I had made about one voter's vandalism of my talk and user pages (which Adashiel knows well, since he caught it before I even knew about it). At the same time, I deleted a "vote" from a user who appeared to have voted twice. No legitimate votes have been deleted. | Klaw ¡digame! 22:19, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- Please note:
208.27.111.121 is the same user as Mrethan.
NOT 207.237.118.48, as KLAW claims it is.
compare
and
and you will see that they are the same user who signed in later as Mrethan. KLAW clearly vandalised that vote and deleted it, forcing the user to have to post it again.Lerner 23:47, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- My recommendation on this matter is to open up a discussion on the AfD's talk page. This is a user talk page, after all, and has a very limited audience. I'm sorry I can't do more, but I'm not going to be able to devote much time to Wikipedia in the next few days. Tis the season, after all, and I just won't have time to properly research it. –Abe Dashiell (t/c) 15:32, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
Congratulations!
Congratulations! It's my pleasure to let you know that, consensus being reached, you are now an administrator. You should read the relevant policies and other pages linked to from the administrators' reading list before carrying out tasks like deletion, protection, banning users, and editing protected pages such as the Main Page. Most of what you do is easily reversible by other sysops, apart from page history merges and image deletion, so please be especially careful with those. You might find the new administrators' how-to guide helpful. Cheers! -- Cecropia 05:36, 17 December 2005 (UTC)

Izehar's RfA
Hi Abe,
sorry
did not know what i was doing. ok
Came across this page on RC patrol just now...seems an anon changed all mentions of CE to AD and you changed it back...just curious why. Yeah, it was pretty pointless for him to change it, but isn't it just as pointless to change it back? Kurt Weber 02:22, 27 December 2005 (UTC)
- I think you missed the point. I understand the need for consistency within the article, but the anon in question changed EVERY reference throughout the article. Yes, it was rather pointless of him to do so, but it was just as pointless of you to change it back--doing that just risks the same edit war you say you're trying to avoid. Thanks for the note, but are you aware that James Duval has responded to the remarks that have been posted here regarding his sexuality? He has amandantly stated that he is not gay OR bisexual and several attempts have been made to remove this information.
James Duval
My apologies, I didn't intend to blank a page or change the formatting...I didn't know that a change had gone through until you left a message saying that it was reverting. I certainly wouldn't do anything to damage the page and was merely attempting to point out that Duval is not openly or un-openly bisexual. And yes, I do have this information from JD as I have recently corresponded with him on several issues. Thank you.
