Paradise Wildlife Park
Hello Adam
I think you deleted my new page about Paradise Wildlife Park and after reading the message you sent to me, I can see why!
I don't think I had the right idea about Wikipedia but am keen to rectify my mistake. If I publish items about the conservation work they do at the Park, would that keep me within the correct usage of wikipedia?

Uncategorized?
Stubs are categories; you shouldn't be adding an uncategorized tag to articles that are marked as stubs. Only articles without category tags and without stub tags should be marked as uncategorized. Kafziel Talk 15:53, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- I don't think I would agree with this. Whilst declaring an article as a stub, adds it to the Category:Stubs, I don't think this can be seen as removing the reasoning behind tagging an article as uncategorized. I think this view is supported by the existence of a Category:Uncategorized stubs. Of course, if you could point out any specific guidelines regarding this, I would appreciate your help. Adambro 16:12, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- Uncategorized stubs are for stubs that are not sorted further into categories. This is not the case with the articles you've been tagging. For instance, {{kerala-geo-stub}} puts an article into the category of Category:Kerala geography stubs, as specific a category as any other. Same goes for {{architecture-stub}} or {{corporation-stub}}. Those are categories. Even a simple {{stub}} tag is a category. Although it should be categorized further if possible, placing a tag on it is not necessary. Kafziel Talk 16:31, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- I'm still not entirely sure about this. I guess the real question is, does a stub category count as a 'real' category. The text on the template, Uncategorizedstub would suggest it doesn't as it indicates that the article in question should be improved by "adding it to one or more categories, in addition to a stub category". Also, may I suggest that you should have discussed this with me before reverting my edits especially as some of them were more than just adding an uncategorized tag. Adambro 16:51, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- The answer is yes, a stub category does qualify as a "real" category. That's not really up for debate. A category is a category. In theory they're not meant to be permanent, but they are categories and tagging them just increases the backlog of supposedly uncategorized articles while doing nothing to actually improve the situation. I'm not sure what evidence you're looking for. Perhaps Wikipedia:Stub sorting will help? There are also two comments on the subject at Template talk:Uncategorized#Don't put this tag on sorted stubs!. I guess confusion is rare enough that nobody has bothered to annotate the actual template, but not so rare as to be unheard-of. It's really not that a big of a deal, as long as you understand now.
- Sorry about the reverts; you were using AWB and therefore moving very quickly. I had to edit fast to keep up while I waited for a reply (I left the message on your talk page right after my first revert). I will replace the other fixes I may have removed. Kafziel Talk 17:08, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- Ok, thanks for clearing that up. I'll refrain from adding uncategorized to stubs in future. Understand regarding AWB, I guess maybe I should look into how I can stop it suggesting adding uncatergorized to stubs. Thanks again. Adambro 17:52, 13 January 2007 (UTC)
- Glad I could help! Kafziel Talk 18:22, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

- Happy to help. Hope your editor review provides you with some useful feedback. Keep up the good work with regards to fighting vandalism. Vandal fighting exposes us to some of the worst of Wikipedia but our efforts really do help. Adambro 17:51, 14 January 2007 (UTC)

I got your message, but was very offended by your calling my insights "vandalism". Being gay is a lifestlye and their is no nonsense about it. I was wondering, however, if you really consider monitoring Wikipedia all day having a life. Maybe you should quit peeing on my campfire and think about the last time you got laid and if you ever will again if you sit your fruity British arse in front of a computer all the time looking at Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Zenabi (talk • contribs) 20:15, 19 January 2007

- I'm nota Adambro and he will answer better then me, but I have to mention WP:COI... by Snowolf (talk) on 17:12, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Snowolf makes a good point. If you are going to create an article about a project you are involved in then you would be seen to have a conflict of interest. This is important because Wikipedia strives to maintain a neutral point of view. I feel that copying info straight from your website, which one would assume is aimed at promoting your project, leaves doubts as to whether the article complies with the neutral point of view guidelines. I would suggest you try to rewrite the article in accordance with the Manual of Style and from a neutral point of view. If you intend to do this, you should place {{hangon}} at the top of the page and explain your intention on the talk page. This will prevent the article from being deleted. Thanks. Hi, local discussion forums for local media are not encyclopaedic and have no place here. See WP:EL. BlueValour 22:35, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- OK, thanks for pointing that out. I should have looked at the nature of the website instead of merely correcting the typo. It seems the guy who originally added the website, albeit with an incorrect URL, is in fact the owner of the website, so I have posted a message on his talk page about the conflict of interest and asked him to stop adding links to his own websites. He's made similar contributions to other articles so I suspect these should also be removed but I'd like to hear your opinion. The username is Jkettle. Adambro 22:46, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- I've now gone ahead and removed the links from other articles to the various websites he owns according to WHOIS searches. Thanks for your help and guidance. Adambro 23:09, 21 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for your good work. BlueValour 23:15, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

Sure thanks for the greeting. What i wrote on the Take That page was "truth" and "fact" you call it vandalism.
It's your website. you decide what is truth and anything outside of that is vandalism. I understand. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.67.199.176 (talk • contribs) 22:07, 27 January 2007
- What you added were not facts, they were your point of view. As I've mentioned before, Wikipedia has a strict policy about maintaining a neutral point of view and adding your own personal opinions to pages is clearly against this. If you add controversial info to an article, you also need to be able to provide citations which support the edit. Adambro 22:45, 27 January 2007 (UTC)

Sheffield Midland
I'm sorry i took so long to reply. I opposed because i thought the historic name was in common usage. Many pages are moved basedon commonality and i have heard both. So i could change my vote to neutral. Simply south 23:52, 28 January 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for explaining what made you come to your decision. It does seem the Sheffield Midland is quite common but I can't find that on any official documents, timetables etc. My opinion is that the title of the page should be the official name with appropriate redirects from any other names used.
