Notability of US Flight Academy

[edit]

A tag has been placed on US Flight Academy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable. If this is the first page that you have created, then you should read the guide to writing your first article.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Phlegm Rooster (talk) 04:37, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you removed a speedy deletion tag from US Flight Academy, a page you have created yourself. If you do not believe the page should be deleted, you can place a {{hangon}} tag on the page, under the existing speedy deletion tag (please do not remove the speedy deletion tag), and make your case on the page's talk page. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. Thank you. Phlegm Rooster (talk) 04:48, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know where you ever got the idea that notability standards don't apply to schools, but that's nonsense. Notability standards apply to everything. It's just that different standards apply to different categories. You failed to supply references from independent, reliable sources that show why others think this company is notable. The same applies to the parent company and its other subsidiaries. The articles you wrote were promotional in nature, and therefore not allowed. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 16:29, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If you can come up with some references from reliable sources, such as aviation magazines that write articles about this school, you can post it again. We just need 'independent sources to prove that this flight school, or any other such school, are notable. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 19:54, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia. While objective prose about products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not intended to be a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Thank you. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 05:55, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to List of Flight Schools. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 05:56, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Do not erase warning messages placed on your talk page. They are a record for other editors and administrators to consider in regard to your future contributions. Erasing these messages is 1) futile, as you can see, as they are resily replaced; and 2) seen as an act of bad faith. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 16:48, 7 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

US Flight Academy

[edit]

Hi there,

While I appreciate the effort you put into the newest version of this article, I have speedily-deleted is per criteria A7, which covers articles about individuals/groups/companies/etc. that do not contain a claim to notability. In this case, a quick report about a innocuous runway accident involving one of its planes does not say anything about the notability of the school itself.

I see that you are working on a number of other aviation-related articles, though--if you haven't already, I'd like to suggest that joining WikiProject Aviation might be a good way to learn a lot about working on Wikipedia while writing about something you clearly have an interest in.

Good luck, and please let me know if you have any questions! --jonny-mt 03:59, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that articles about this school aren't going to fly (sorry, couldn't resist the pun) unless you add several references from independent, reliable sources. You can try again, but you really need to do a fairly thorough Google or Yahoo search about the school. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 04:12, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

What I do on mine is open up my talk page, ckick on the "History" tab at the top, then click on the "Compare selected versions" button - it will automatically select the most recent change. You can go backward through changes to your page by click on the "←Older edit" link. This works on articles, too. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 05:18, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest?

[edit]

You've just indicated on your user page that you are a flight instructor. If you work for or with US Flight Academy, then your work with that article constitutes a conflict of interest. Please read the COI article before proceeding further. - Realkyhick (Talk to me) 16:15, 9 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

An exciting opportunity to improve yourself!

[edit]

As a member of the Aviation WikiProject or one of its subprojects, you may be interested in testing your skills in the Aviation Contest! I created this contest, not to pit editor against editor, but to promote article improvement and project participation and camraderie. Hopefully you will agree with its usefulness. Sign up here, read up on the rules here, and discuss the contest here. The first round of the contest may not start until September 1st-unless a large number of editors signup and are ready to compete immediately! Since this contest is just beginning, please give feedback here, or let me know what you think on my talkpage. - Trevor MacInnis contribs 05:45, 21 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
