Control copyright icon Hello Actionadventure, and welcome to Wikipedia. While we appreciate your contributing to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from your sources to avoid copyright or plagiarism issues here.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. (There is a college-level introduction to paraphrase, with examples, hosted by the Online Writing Lab of Purdue.) Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • Our primary policy on using copyrighted content is Wikipedia:Copyrights. You may also want to review Wikipedia:Copy-paste.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. However, there are steps that must be taken to verify that license before you do. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • In very rare cases (that is, for sources that are public domain or compatibly licensed), it may be possible to include greater portions of a source text. However, please seek help at the help desk before adding such content to the article. 99.9% of sources may not be added in this way, so it is necessary to seek confirmation first. If you do confirm that a source is public domain or compatibly licensed, you will still need to provide full attribution; see Wikipedia:Plagiarism for the steps you need to follow.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you can, but please follow the steps in Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 23:18, 21 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Order of Universal Merit

[edit]

A Universal is member of the worldwide Order of Universal Merit movement (the Order). Because of the potential lifelong span of association, the Order splits membership life stages called degrees. Each Universal member belongs to one or more tribes between 12–300 individuals each under the guidance of one or more Tribal Chiefs. Tribes subdivide into Kin Groups (or Families) of typically between two to six Universals and engage in social, health, service and special interest activities. Tribes are grouped into Societies. Societies may affiliate with local, national, and international organizations. Universal associations may be connected with religious or political groups. Some have special interest programs such as Sustainability, Whole Foods/Plant production/consumption, Music, and Legacy making. All incorporate aspects of right living, service, merit recognition, tribal lore and law along with the performance of various ceremonies that help maintain the integrity of the Order.

Foundation[edit] William Todd Hudson founded the Order of Universal Merit as an organization in 2020, at the first Order of the Universe Conference broadcast from Palo Alto, California in March 2020.[1] Hudson got the idea from his experiences with the Scouting program, as a missionary, work as a systems analyst in workflow, studies of Behavioral Neuroscience and conviction of the need to prepare the earth for a singularity in the 2nd half of the 21st century. To advance his ideas, Hudson wrote Order of the Universe for readership, which describes the Universal method of activities aiming at developing character, citizenship, and health and personal fitness qualities among members focusing on preparation for the coming technological singularity. This preparation is accomplished through 3 missions: right living, replenishing the earth, and legacy building.[2] People of diverse backgrounds joined the |Order of Universal Merit activities, resulting in the movement growing rapidly to become the world's largest organization.

The Order programs are customize but each develops a high degree of self-reliance, initiative, courage, helpfulness, integrity, sportsmanship, and resourcefulness. Universals should be helpful; understand their society, heritage, and culture; have respect for the rights of others; and be positive leader-citizens.[3][4]

A tag has been placed on The Order of Humanists and United Believers requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.
