Linking to sections of NYC Subway complexes

Copied Discussion from User talk:Jimmy Slade

Hi,

I noticed you have been re-linking some of the station complexes in the service articles. The best way to link is to link like it's not a station complex, eg. 168th Street (IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line). Each station should already be a redirect and that will take you directly to the appropriate section on the station complex page. Acps110 (talk) 00:29, 27 January 2009 (UTC)

What's happening? Care to respond? The reason these articles are linked this way is if the station complex article structure changes. Then only the redirect needs to be changed not EVERY article that links to the complex. Acps110 (talk) 01:11, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
Please read Usage of naming convention for the project. The point I'm trying to make is to use the template, Station Name (Line) when linking to a station regardless of whether it is a station or station complex. I spent far too long on Monday fixing many links to South Ferry (New York City Subway). If all of those had pointed to South Ferry (IRT Broadway–Seventh Avenue Line), I could have fixed it one place. (the redirect) If you find a redirect that doesn't link directly to the proper section on the station complex page by all means fix it. However, please stop linking a station complex differently than a station. It makes changes like merging or service changes (such as on Monday) very difficult. My sandbox

Yeah, I was kinda surprised, like in 'WTF?!' mode really. Anyway, it's cool. But the article looks great. And you have to see the new station (if you're in NYC; it's beautiful. I have some pics, we could add a gallery section to it if that's cool. —Imdanumber1 (talk contribs  email) 22:11, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

No, I'm not in NYC unfortunately. :-( I'll have to see it in person later. If you have some excellent quality photos of the new station, by all means add a gallery!!!!!!!!! Not enough stations have pictures, imho. This is an encyclopedia after all and a picture is worth at least a thousand words. Acps110 (talk) 20:05, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

South Ferry Loop edit

You beat me to it. That is, removing the reference about the National Register of Historic Places. Did you do it after seeing my posting on SubChat? --Allan (talk) 03:29, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Yes, I did. Hopefully we can get it landmarked so it will be preserved! Acps110 (talk) 20:07, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

The Linden Yard redirect to Linden Shops

I noticed that you created the Linden Yard redirect to the Linden Shops article in June, 2008. Could you please take a look at the proposal mentioned at Talk:Linden Shops and more specifically given explicitly at Talk:Linden Yard and let us know if you would object to the redirect replacement with an article on a different facility proposal? Thank you very much. 67.86.73.252 (talk) 22:19, 27 March 2009 (UTC)

I think that since they are both in the same metro area, the current Linden Shops should be renamed to Linden Shops (New York City Subway) and your new article should be named Linden Yard (Northeast Corridor) or Linden Yard (New Jersey). The generic Linden Yard can then be made into a disamb page linking to both articles. Acps110 (talk) 22:29, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
Thank you. Given the choice I would prefer the name Linden Yard (New Jersey). I recently left a note that there is a "Linden Yard and Shops" facility as part of the Chicago L (hence the proposed disamb page would have room to grow). By the way, unregistered users such as myself, are not allowed to rename pages on wikipedia. Since I agree with your rename proposal I would also appreciate it if you could do the honors. Thank you for that as well. 67.86.73.252 (talk) 22:58, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
