Shadowed Ribbons
Hi Achowat - Lately I've been trying my hand at making some barnstar ribbons, but I seem to be having some trouble making them look right. The primary problem I'm having is not being able to make the shadowing look right, and the lines embedded in the ribbon lining up right. Is there a simple way to place the proper shadow on the ribbon so it looks right? Cheers, Freebirdthemonk 04:53, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
- The absolute simplest way is to download the basic colored ribbons. (brown, blue, green, white, yellow, red, black, purple are the obvious ones) and then simply copy-paste the right colors in bars, making sure to join them up at the exact right place. The trouble with this, of course, is that you need to give proper licensing information for each and every ribbon you use. If you have any other questions, let me know. - This makes things a lot easier. Thanks for your help. Cheers, Freebirdthemonk Howdy! 17:23, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

Shinto barnstar
- What do you think of something along these lines?
- It needs a bit of colour work, but I wanted to get a rough cut out there for you for feedback. Niamh (talk) 14:05, 20 December 2013 (UTC)
- Looks fine and good and great and great. Achowat (talk) 20:54, 20 December 2013 (UTC)

Colonial flags
Hi there thank you so much for your little offer there and I really do appreciate it. The flags that I raised in question on the other Page they'll have files linked to them so you have no trouble finding them but they are of poor quality and they need to be upgraded to basically Wikipedia standards now those flags that I have selected I've just a selection of many many colonial flags that are of extremely poor quality and need to be upgraded or created altogether so this is not just something that needs doing here and there is a lot that needs to be done to get the flags and the Flags of the British Empire up to scratch. in the meanwhile here is the first of the flags that need upgrading from the graphics lab and they are all Wikipedia files Already
Hong Kong 1910-1959
Hong Kong 1959-1997 (I think the blue is too dark at present for the Ensign so just a minor edit there)
British Weihaiwei 1900-1930
Barbados 1885-1958 (90.197.194.14 (talk) 15:44, 27 December 2013 (UTC))
- I guess my only question is what, specifically, needs to be done to get the flags "up to scratch". Talk to me like I'm someone who knows very little about British colonial ensigns (because I am). Achowat (talk) 17:06, 27 December 2013 (UTC)
- My apologies As I didn't realise that your knowledge of this was not all that good I had to say my knowledge is very limited but I know is the flights need been up to scratch much, The British colonial flags were effectively the flags of the colonies before they were independent and at the moment there are very few flags on Wikipedia those flights that are on Wikipedia are on the Flags of the British Empire page. (90.197.194.14 (talk) 09:16, 28 December 2013 (UTC))
- Right, I've got that British colonial flags were the flags of the British colonies, I just don't know what's wrong with the current batch of flags we currently have, so I'd be unable to ask the Graphics Lab for their help. Could you explani, specifically, what needs to be fixed about each flag? Achowat (talk) 20:35, 28 December 2013 (UTC)

Basically the flags are substandard and not up to the usual high quality Wikipedia standards. The flags need a more detailed coat of arms all the emblems whatever you want call them and also via it just needs to be more detailed basically and brining up to that of other flags that have been created in house. . The selection of those flies are just a sample of many many other colonial flags used thought out the British Empire that need been up to Wikipedia standards that are currently just uploads from other websites where they were made almost at a amateur level. This is what needs doing to each of the following flags in question so I hope this is more helpful to you.
Hong Kong 1910-1959 (Flag needs recreating as it's of poor Quality and low resolution as it's a upload from another site and not from Wikipedia)
Hong Kong 1959-1997 (The Blue English is too dark and needs to be made slightly lighter so just a very minor edit for that flag)
British Weihaiwei 1900-1930 ( This Flag needs recreating as it's of poor Quality and low resolution as it's also a upload from another site and not from Wikipedia)
Barbados 1885-1958 (Needs recreating as it's of Poor quality and again and upload from another website and not a flag that was created on Wikipedia) (90.197.194.14 (talk) 11:20, 29 December 2013 (UTC))
- Okay,I can see Hong Kong (10-59) and Weihaiwei needing a fix. Do you have, say, another website that shows these seals in better resolution? As for Barbados, the flag was made in-house and seems to be very high resolution (.svg, even). I guess I don't know what you mean by "Poor Quality". Achowat (talk) 20:21, 29 December 2013 (UTC)
I think you are mixing up the 1885-1958 Barbados flag with the 1958-1966 flag which is of very high resolution it is the 1885 flag that needs the attention as for another website with regards to to higher quality resolution seals I really don't know where to go on that one, sorry and as for poor quality I basically main images that are of low resolution that were uploaded from another website and look very amateurish that is basically what I mean by poor Quality.
