Popular culture and 'The Game'[edit]

Hello. Regarding your edits to The Game: Penetrating the Secret Society of Pickup Artists, you might want to read WP:IPC, specifically WP:IPCEXAMPLES. Popular culture sections should be well sourced, and should discuss things that have a significant impact on the topic. Passing mentions On TV shows and such usually don't qualify. Thanks. Grayfell (talk) 00:22, 29 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for pointing me in the direction of the criteria. Could I ask you to reorganize and add the section back in there? I feel like since you have a better handle on the ins and outs that you'd be better suited to do it. If not, could you point me in the direction of a page that I could emulate? Thanks so much!

Hello again. Well, I'm not quite sure what your asking. The problems isn't about organization, it's about sources. If you want to include an IPC section, you should probably do it item-by-item with solid WP:RS for each entry. Not every mention of The Game is worth including. Actually, few WP:GOOD articles have IPC sections at all. This is partly because they are so hard to source, and partly because many editors really, really dislike them. (This XKCD comic might help explain why that is.) I'm not one of those editors, but I understand where they're coming from. If you want to add this section, stick to references that explain how the pop cultural appearance has had a big impact on either the book itself, or culture at large. As an example source, I just added this article from The New York Times about White Russians in The Big Lebowski. This is a two page article from a major newspaper specifically about the connection between the two. If you can find sources like that, I will be happy to help you add an IPC section.
Oh, one other thing, don't forget to WP:SIGN your talk page posts. Thanks, Grayfell (talk) 00:28, 9 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the clarification Grayfell. I'll look for the sources and get back to you if I find enough. AbleDeeDo (talk) 23:54, 16 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
