Sweet! See you in a few.
Welcome to Wikipedia
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for visiting my talk page. My name is Jim, and I edit here with the username of "Cullen328". I've been contributing to Wikipedia for 2-1/2 years now. I am an Online Ambassador, and I have offered to help students in your class. Please feel free to ask me any questions at all about editing Wikipedia.
There are many helpful resources available for new Wikipedia editors. One that I like is WP:PRIMER, which is a one-stop introduction intended to help newcomers to better understand the basics of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The best advice that I can give you to learn how to be a good Wikipedia editor is to actually edit articles, edit talk pages and edit your own user page. Add high quality references to articles, improve the accuracy and improve the prose, and everyone here will sing your praises. Feel free to visit my user page and my talk page, and feel free to ask any question at any time. Thank you. Cullen328 Let's discuss it 02:23, 18 February 2012 (UTC)
Topics
[edit]- Moral Personality
- Density Distributions
- The Honesty/Humility factor of the HEXACO
- Moral Discounting
Moral Personality would be an interesting topic, though I don't know how well the topic is defined. "Density Distributions" is for statistics=P. There is an article for HEXACO model of personality structure, so you could expand. Moral Discounting would make for a great topic, but its not always called that (can't remember what else its called atm).Smallman12q (talk) 00:14, 25 February 2012 (UTC)
The density distribution model is the idea that people vary in their state levels of different traits across situations (e.g. a person who has a high trait level of extraversion is not always extraverted, occasionally, s/he will act highly introverted) and the density distributions model shows that people have a mean-level of a trait that varies across the distribution, but is generally stable and predictable. There is also more variance within one person's behavior than between two people. It is a statistical model, but it was used to explain personality. Thanks for the input!Abj89 (talk) 13:29, 2 March 2012 (UTC)
Once you explain that Density Distributions is a model of personality rather than a statistics topic (you'd have to use a different title, because Density Distributions alone certainly sounds like a statistics topic), then I think it is a reasonable topic for you. However, I'm still reluctant because of the fact that it is my model you'd be describing. I'm sure you would do an excellent job, but it might give the appearance of self-promotion, which I would like to avoid. I know you are not doing it for that reason, and chose it because you know it well and because it is a reasonably well-established model in the field, but I am still hesitant. You did list the honesty/humility factor as one possibility, and I think that is a good alternative.William Fleeson (talk) 21:25, 17 March 2012 (UTC)
- Ok I'll switch to that. Someone sent me an email about it that I'll discuss with you in class this week.Abj89 (talk) 19:40, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
- Sounds good. Please update it on the course page when you get a chance. William Fleeson (talk) 21:10, 27 March 2012 (UTC)
Another Editor
[edit]Hi Abj89. I was going over the history page for the HEXACO model of personality structure and saw that you might be working on that topic for a project. Funny enough, I am also editing the HEXACO page for a school project (I'm currently a first year Masters student at Carleton University). So, if you are interested, it would be great to work together on it. At the very least you will know the other person working on the page too. Thanks. Fuzzybunnyhare (talk) 19:21, 13 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi, I think I'm going to be working on that, I'll be creating a page for the honesty/humility factor for class and possibly adding to the other factor pages to describe them from the HEXACO perspective.Abj89 (talk) 19:40, 19 March 2012 (UTC)
- Hi Abj89, I noticed that our professors were talking about potentially merging our pages. The course is finished but I don't mind editing still, so if that is the plan let me know. I'd be happy to help. Fuzzybunnyhare (talk) 17:08, 15 April 2012 (UTC)
- Really? Where? I haven't heard anything about that.
- Here is the link to the page from my Wikipedia talk:Canada Education Program/Courses/Present/Contemporary Research in Personality (John Zelenski).Fuzzybunnyhare (talk) 17:28, 18 April 2012 (UTC)
