Autobiographical entries

[edit]

Hello! JCYJ is not the appropriate spot to post information about yourself, because that's the encyclopedic part of the Wikipedia website. User:Aberon Jones, however, is all yours to use more or less as you wish. Please see Wikipedia:Introduction and Wikipedia:User page for more information.. — ERcheck (talk) 23:14, 13 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Wikipedia is not a personal blog site

Dawn of War (JCYJ series)

[edit]

Aberon,

If you will go to the page Dawn of War (JCYJ series) and blank it, then put in the edit summary -- "Creator requests deletion", I will delete the article.

Thank you for fixing the comments on your user page. As you mention, you aspire to become a good contributor to Wikipedia and eventually an administrator. May I suggest that you look at the welcome message at the top of this page (your User talk page) and follow the links to the suggested reading. There is a lot of help available to assist you in becoming a good contributor.

Good luck. — ERcheck (talk) 19:52, 15 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestions

[edit]
  1. Broly: The Legendary Saiyan: The tags on the page gives you suggestions for improving the article. (Follow the links). As I suggested earlier, take a look at the information in the welcome message. In this case, How to write a great article. There are some basic principles that you must follow in wikipedia. For an article such as you've created here, verifiability is something to pay attention to. You should cite your sources for the article. Wikipedia does not accept original research. Do look at the Manual of Style to learn about the accepted style for articles.
  2. Signing your notes on talk pages. As mentioned in the welcome message, typing ~~~~ will automatically be converted into a signature when you finish your edit and save the page.

Hi

[edit]

I didn't really clean anything up, just tagged the article for cleanup. Good luck, and welcome to Wikipedia. You can sign your Talk page comments with four tildes - ~~~~. User:Zoe|(talk) 01:36, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Article information

[edit]

Alberon,

The Wikipedia:Manual of Style is a good place to start for constructing a good article. On the right-hand side of that page, there are alot of helpful links, including Citing sources. This should get you started.

Merges

[edit]

From the Wikipedia page on Merges:

There are several good reasons to merge a page:
  • There are two or more pages on exactly the same subject.
  • There are two or more pages on related subjects that have a large overlap. Wikipedia is not a dictionary; there does not need to be a separate entry for every concept in the universe. For example, "Flammable" and "Non-flammable" can both be explained in an article on Flammability.
  • If a page is very short and cannot or should not be expanded terribly much, it often makes sense to merge it with a page on a broader topic.
  • If a short article requires the background material or context from a broader article in order for readers to understand it.

Go ahead and review both the Online diary and Blog pages, and then, if you have an opinion on the merge, leave a note on either (or both) of the respective talk pages — Talk:Online diary or Talk:Blog. — ERcheck (talk) 01:18, 17 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Posting your own stories - no

[edit]

Aberon, Thanks for asking. It will certainly save your friend some time rather than post his stories and have them deleted. Wikipedia does not accept original fiction, even if referenced. See the following for what Wikipedia is NOT:

User page

[edit]

Aberon,

A couple of suggestions for your user page:

  1. I found a couple of misspelled words. You might consider using a spell checker in your word processing application before posting.
  2. You should take great care in revealing personal information when related to underage children — in particular, 13 and under. See WP:CHILD. So, references to your younger siblings are best left out. (I've removed one such reference.)
  3. I noticed that on your subpage User:Aberon Jones/JCYJ, you've made several subheadings — "creator requests deletion". If you really want that subpage removed, add {{db-author}} to the top of the page. Then, remove the link to it on your user page.

On deleting accounts

[edit]

Aberon,

Please see this section on "Deleting your user account". In effect, user accounts are not deleted, but you can make a request to have your username changed. The information is on the section referenced above.
