Please do not add commercial links or links to your own private websites to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or a mere collection of external links. You are, however, encouraged to add content instead of links to the encyclopedia. If you feel the link should be added to the article please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. See the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thanks. --Andeh 11:03, 10 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks Andeh. I haven't and won't add commercial links to my own private websites on Wikepedia. I add content and links that I think better the community. Anyone who reviews the links and content I've added I think will appreciate their contribution.

I'd add to this, please don't remove content or links to sites that you haven't bothered reviewing. Someone who at first may believe content or links are commercial may gleen something different upon inspection.

Please stop adding commercial links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. In this case, specifically the Ventrilo page. Your contribution history indicates a pattern of adding links to sites that sell products/services related to the the pages you edit. I've looked at the content of the DallasExtreme Ventrilo "guide" you link to, which you yourself described as "Ventrilo client setup instructions and offers Ventrilo Servers for purchase" the first time you added it (and have since omitted the second part). The guide is mostly a reproduction, word for word, of the official guide available on the official Ventrilo site, with a half-screen of server sales advertising at the top. It's not suitable as an external link on the Ventrilo page. Please don't add it again. If you wish to discuss it further I've added an entry on the Ventrilo talk page. --Battlehamster 01:07, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to use Wikipedia for advertising, you will be blocked from editing. --Andeh 07:00, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Abbynormal1 readded commercial links without any discussion on talk pages. --Battlehamster 08:05, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

First let me say, I'm relatively new to Wikipedia, and I may not have followed the guidelines exactly how they should have been followed. Battlehamster mentioned that I should have discussed it in talk, which I have done. I think he's wrong in his accusations, and wrong for removing my contribution. The reasons are mentioned in the discussion section.

Battlehamster - before jumping to conclusions about my contribution, I suggest you do a little research before determining my post is a link to the reproduction of the original, which it is not. Trust me, I've had a Ventrilo server for some time, and it's difficult to find good explanatory guides on how to setup channels, add/edit users, etc, which this guide does. Again - find an alternative non comemrcial link if you can, but in my opinion there isn't one.

Hello Abbynormal1, Regarding your statement on the Ventrilo talk page:

P.S. I'm not the site owner, and I consider it libel that you say "Abbynormal1, who has posted similar links to other pages.". Every wiki contribution I've made has been just that - contribution. I don't post links, or edit topics based on my own interest. I don't spam commercial links. I make valid, contribution minded edits. I suggest you either remove your libel, or back it up. --Abbynormal1 15:00, 16 July 2006

I understand that you disagree with my views, however I don't believe any of my statements to be libel. I would also recommend you read Wikipedia:No legal threats. You may not have intended any sort of legal threat, but I'd caution that people often feel they're being threatened when charges of libel or slander are made. I bring this up not to stir up conflict over it, but only to advise on wikipedia's policy.

That said, I sincerely wish you all the best and hope that your future experiences are less frustrating and overall positive. --Battlehamster 22:39, 18 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It wasn't a threat, what kind of idiot would sue over an internet argument? So, not only did I not intend to threaten, no rational person could consider it a threat. It was a statement of fact. To say the least, I'm irritated that you are either ignorant or biased about my contribution. Part of this comes from the fact that you said I made similar spammy contributions which you cannot backup, and is the reason for my libel statement. Slander wouldn't apply here, that is regarding spoken lies.
You did bring the libel thing up to stir things up, because it is not Wikipedias policy that you cannot point out that someone has commited slander against you. The fact is, you commited slander, it's that simple. I'm making no direct or veiled threat of legal action, I'm simply pointing out a fact.
I suggest you follow your own suggestion and read Wikipedia:No legal threats - "Similarly, slander, libel, or defamation of character are not to be tolerated on Wikipedia"
Grow up.
I think our edit histories speak for themselves. I'm sorry that you think I'm trying to stir things up; I'm not. We'll just have to agree to disagree. I'll part ways here. Best of luck. --Battlehamster 00:58, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
