[edit]The article is making progress towards B rating, and even GA with a moderate amount of work. I'd suggest submitting it for a peer review. But just from a relatively quick glance, I'd suggest:
- fixing the references, either putting in in-line citation or moving the bibiography to the references section
- either filling out or eliminating the references section
- adding a lead paragraph per Wikipedia:Lead section
- Mocko13 23:47, 23 February 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks, I've added lead para and made Bibliog and Web refs sub-headings of References - which I think is how I'd originally had it. Will submit for peer review in a day or two when I've thought about things a bit more--Abbeybufo 11:00, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- on further reflection I've removed the References main heading and upgraded Bibliog and External to main headings, and am taking on board Duribald's comments, too.--Abbeybufo 11:28, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- and now, having had further thoughts, I've added some refs (and will probably put in more later) and so reinstated the References heading--Abbeybufo 11:49, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
- It's looking great, getting a closer to GA (I just bumped it up to B). A peer review will catch things that I won't. Good work. - Mocko13 15:09, 25 February 2007 (UTC)

George Jennings and Parkstone pottery
[edit]Hi. I'll ask my uncle about Parkstone Pottery. All I know is him mentioning something about a terrible fire down there. We don't have a lot of contact with the Jennings these days (being mainly Harwoods as you twigged!) but we do have various items, including a huge hard back catalogue of all the Jenning Sanitaryware and installations - no doubt many of them made at Parkstone.MonicaHarwood 22:22, 29 September 2007 (UTC)MonicaHarwood

Parkstone Station (and Branksome and Poole for that matter)
[edit]Good point; the way I see it is that while the operating services are still there, Branksome, Parkstone and Poole were on the Somerset and Dorset line and thus used to enjoy (!) a service they no longer receive. Thus are new readers introduced to a line they may not have realised ever existed. The line/service route debate goes on ad infinitum ; however the box tells you that while the Weymouth and Wareham trains still operate the SDJR no longer does. Britmax 14:01, 4 October 2007 (UTC)
Parkstone Station et al.
[edit]Having given your point some thought I've removed the "Line Closed" banner from the middle boxes leaving only the Disused Railway insert, which seems more clear. Let me know what you think! Britmax 14:09, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

Parkstone
[edit]Thanks - job done. You won't believe this but I used to walk toward Swanage - never got there on foot but you had a head start as I was coming from West Howe! I reached Old Harry a few times though. That was when the bus fare from the ferry to Swanage was 1/1d. (I think the ferry company got the penny as the toll from Hants & Dorset). Then when I worked at Sherry and Haycock in the eighties after they moved to Ferndown the old staff still referred with affection to the times at Pottery Road... Most of my blackberry bushes are buried under the A338 on the edge of Queens'Park Golf Course. Britmax 14:40, 4 October 2007 (UTC)

I just wanted to let you know that I have uploaded her article to Veropedia, a new initiative to save the best articles of Wikipedia. It is indeed a wonderful article. If you have recommendations for any other articles that you think should be preserved, please let me know. Danny 21:26, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I knew Margaret when she was a Liverpool magistrate and have done some expansion to her article; I don't know too much about Elsie Oxenham but have managed to source some of the early Campfire days Can you think of anything else that should go in? - Thanks for that. I'm not sure there's much merit in expanding that section of her life per WP:UNDUE, and there is a lot of material about her later life. What is missing is the years between. Cheers. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 17:27, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Dorset needs YOU!
[edit]- What?
Since you are listed under Wikipedians in Dorset, I am hoping you may be interested in saving the article on Dorset. The article was promoted to featured status in 2005, when the standards for FA were not as strict, and therefore it is soon to be reviewed once again. Currently the article, if only for lack of references, would fail to pass the Featured article review.
- How?
Your help, however much, will be vital in keeping this important article at FA. At WikiProject Dorset, the WP devoted to Dorset-related articles, we will be helping to organise restoration of the article. As well, there will be discussion on Dorset's talk page. If you know anyone else who may be interested in helping, contact them and/or copy this into their talk page. Please, do get involved!

Disambiguation link notification for November 5
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Dorita Fairlie Bruce, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page St. Margaret's Bay. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. [edit]Thanks for your notes about George Jennings. I find Wikipedia very difficult to use so hope that this gets to you. Yes, I am descended from him. The catalogue is with my uncle in Carlisle. As it is so old and unique, I'm not sure that the post would be such a good idea but if you're travelling north, contact me and I can arrange for you to see it. I have a set of lithographs of the Clapham assembly plant but not of the Parkstone quarry. MonicaHarwood (talk) 13:04, 4 September 2017 (UTC)
