[edit]Hello, just noticed your edits pop up on my watchlist. What kind of teaching do you do? Primary, secondary? I ask because I'm currently considering doing a Dip Ed. and teaching secondary history. --Cnwb 02:09, 6 November 2005 (UTC)
Hi AaronRichard,
I recently translated the article about Christian Worch from the German-language wikipedia and I was wondering wether you could check over it and fix mistakes.--Carabinieri 18:22, 24 January 2006 (UTC)
Hi mate, I suggest you take a look at WikiProject AFL if you love your footy, and also Category:VFL/AFL players. Drop us a line with any questions mate. Cheers, Rogerthat Talk 07:43, 20 March 2006 (UTC)
Amateur AFL teams
[edit]Hello AaronRichard. Good work on all those AFL teams. Recently, North Carolina Tigers was put on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/North Carolina Tigers by myself, with the result being to merge the team to its respective league - United States Australian Football League, on the grounds that the performance and competition level is not of first-class standard, although the leagues in themselves are of interest. At the time I wrote a rather large discussion, indicating that the AfD could be a litmus-test or precedent for similar AFL teams and I would like to see what people think about this, as to I (or someone else) should go ahead and merge them, without sending a whole pile to AfD. I have posted this at WP:AWNB and WP:AFL and would appreciate some feedback.Blnguyen | Have your say!!! 02:29, 21 March 2006 (UTC)
WP:AFL - Aussie rules outside Australia
[edit]Hi Aaron, remember when you join the WP:AFL project, tou may propose any new articles or coverage you feel is appropriate. I am not knowledgable on the amateur leagues outside Australia, but perhaps with some of your work you could add a list of tasks to the project page and then use that as a place for the whole International aussie rules community to discuss ideas. Your thoughts? Rogerthat Talk 09:17, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Image source problem with Image:Bristoldockers.gif
[edit]This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Bristoldockers.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 21:58, 13 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Somali language
[edit]I see you've been working hard on the Somali language article. However, you need to be aware that there are standards for language articles. They should follow the structure given in the template. Please could you rearrange the information so that it once again conforms to this? You also need to know that for linguists it is very important that the spoken language is separated from the written language. This article is about the language rather than the writing system, so the history section should focus on the history of the language, not of the writing system. Fair use rationale for Image:Southafricanlions.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Southafricanlions.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Wgrlogo.gif)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Wgrlogo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 07:23, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Stockholmdynamitelogo.gif
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Stockholmdynamitelogo.gif. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Speedy deletion nomination of Edinburgh Bloods
[edit]A tag has been placed on Edinburgh Bloods requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a club, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guidelines for people and for organizations.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. [edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute to the encyclopedia, but when you add or change content, as you did to the article Atka, Magadan Oblast, please cite a reliable source for the content of your edit. This is particularly important when adding or changing any facts or figures and helps maintain our policy of verifiability. Take a look at Wikipedia:Citing sources for information about how to cite sources and the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. You are now a Reviewer
[edit]Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 04:48, 20 June 2010 (UTC)
Footy jumpers
[edit]You've been doing some good work with these, but with the Ballarat Football League, you gave Darley the wrong jumper. Along with that, it's better to leave the same size logos there. If you present different sizes it looks unprofessional and therefore unencyclopaedic. Footy Freak7 (talk) 23:19, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Werribeecentralsjumper.png
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Werribeecentralsjumper.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a non-free file with a clearly invalid licensing tag; or it otherwise fails some part of the non-free content criteria. If you can find a valid tag that expresses why the file can be used under the fair use guidelines, please replace the current tag with that tag. If no such tag exists, please add the {{non-free fair use in|article name that the file is used in}} tag, along with a brief explanation of why this constitutes fair use of the file. If the file has been deleted, you can re-upload it, but please ensure you place the correct tag on it.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - To be honest, I'm not sure that it does, but at the moment we're operating on a standard that each of the WAFL/SANFL/VFL etc affiliated local footy leagues has an article. I'm not going to worry too much about developing that particular article too extensively though. The WikiProject WA and WikiProject AFL I think both assessed it as "low" importance, which means it scrapes in for the time being at least. AaronRichard (talk) 21:39, 19 December 2011 (UTC)

- I'm not of the deletionist fraction on Wikipedia so I certainly won't nominate it for AFD but I doupt that it passes Wikipedia:GNG, meaning sufficent coverage in independent media. Being regustered and affiliated is not a criteria for notability, most sports and sporting competition are registered with a governing authority, that alone doesn't make them notable I have to say. The rough divide seems to be whether a competition is fully professional or not, but if there is a resonable media coverage for amateur competitions it makes them notable, too. If somebody else came around, and put an AFD on it your good work would probably have all been wasted unless you can come up with some independednt, reliable sources, like newspapers. - FWIW, country footy leagues generally do get substantial coverage in local independent media, plus they generally get some token coverage in statewide media. I haven't seen any of the articles on SA/Vic/WA leagues tagged for deletion at any point so far. Also, I've seen quite a few articles on Wikipedia covering non- or semi-professional leagues in other sporting codes. For the moment we'll leave it.AaronRichard (talk) 11:24, 20 December 2011 (UTC)
- Don't get me wrong, I'm just trying to point out something to you. There is plenty of amateur sport articles here and I wish there was more but current guidlines are pretty prohibitive. There is something of a notion on Wikipedia that professonal=notable, amateur=non-notable. I have seen plenty of articles in rugby union and soccer articles deleted because they were deemed non-notable, believe me. The point I'm making is that if there is plenty of coverage, even if only in local papers and off-line, than some of it will have to be added to prove notability. In their current state the articles don't fullfil that requirement and are vulnerable. The saving grace is that few outside of Australia have heared of AFL and it doesn't get much negative attention because of that. Other sports do! Calistemon (talk) 11:51, 20 December 2011 (UTC)

Moving pages
[edit]Hey Aaron, just noticed your copying of the content of Crater to Coast Rail Trail to a new page Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail. First - thanks for doing this, I hadn't realised that "Crater to Coast" was a future name only. For future reference though, you should use the "Move Page" function (it's in the drop down menu to the right of View history). The difference is, moving the page properly retains the full history of the page, including previous edits. Creating a new page and copying the content breaks the history, and is iffy from a copyright point of view... Anyway, for next time. :) Stevage 02:12, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Stevage, sorry, didn't realise! Will make sure not to make that mistake next time. Regards the name "Crater to Coast", I think from memory they WERE using that as the name for a while, including on the Railtrails Australia website itself, but the latest brochures and whatnot seem to all be calling it Camperdown-Timboon Rail Trail again. Not sure why the change back.AaronRichard (talk) 05:49, 8 April 2013 (UTC)
- Heh - I actually help manage the Rail Trails Australia site. It's not definitive - it's more a question of RTA trying to keep up with what the local management committee decides, rather than vice versa. Stevage 03:26, 10 April 2013 (UTC)

Sakha Republic Edits
[edit]Hi Aaron, Good to see someone else involved in creating articles for the far east of Russia, it has given me impetus to get back to some myself. Saw you have been creating some articles for settlements that are no specifically covered by the 2010 census such as Yuryung-Khaya. Not sure if you are aware, but the population figures given here are for the national nasleg, not specifically for the village itself. As with a lot of villages in Chukotka, where I have been editing, often the village is the only settlement in the nasleg, so it is fine per WP:COMMONSENSE to assume nasleg population = village population, though it is worth checking here on the official Sakha Republic website where there are links to each district. I have added an explanatory note which I have been using in my Chukotka articles as well, which clarifies things and which you can transplant to any other articles you think appropriate. Fenix down (talk) 16:30, 4 November 2013 (UTC)
- Hi Aaron, I note that you added some settlements to the tables I had produced. I think at Anabarsky District, there was some confusion between the municipal district organisation which has jurisdiction over 2 settlements according to the source and the administrative district that has jurisdiction over three. Confusing, eh?! All districts have an administrative and municipal equivalent which do not necessarily look after the same area, for example Chaunsky District, which has a strange arrangement whereby it municipally has jurisdiction over a small settlement several hundred km from the administrative district boundary. I have clarified the district article to differentiate between the two types. I think you were right with the addition to Allaikhovsky District, although according to the source, it was unpopulated in the 2002 census. Fenix down (talk) 08:55, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Yakutian Railway
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Yakutian Railway requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello, AaronRichard. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Peter Whish-Wilson (tubist), for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. If you don't want Peter Whish-Wilson (tubist) to be deleted, please add a reference to the article.
If you don't understand this message, you can leave a note on my talk page.

Speedy deletion nomination of Peter Whish-Wilson (tubist)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Peter Whish-Wilson (tubist) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://awscdn.australianmusiccentre.com.au/documents/att_670.pdf. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. The article Niko Schäuble has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp/dated}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Cahk (talk) 09:32, 29 March 2019 (UTC)

[edit]The article North London Lions has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Fails WP:NORG, lacks any sources or references.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Dan arndt (talk) 06:13, 19 July 2021 (UTC)
