Additional tips
[edit]Here are some extra tips to help you get around in Wikipedia:
- If you want to play around with your new Wiki skills the Sandbox is for you.
- You can sign your name using three tildes (~). If you use four, you can add a datestamp too.
- You may want to add yourself to the new user log.
- If you ever think a page or image should be deleted, please list it at the votes for deletion page. There is also a votes for undeletion page if you want to retrieve something that you think should not have been deleted.
- If you're still entirely confused, or would like to get a better grasp of your wikipedia skills, and you have an IRC client (or don't mind getting one), check out the Bootcamp. It's not what it sounds like, but it is fun and can help you with your editing skills.

- Sorry AMP'd, it was a copy and paste glitch. Despite the fact that I got your name wrong, you're still most welcome! LittleOldMe 08:43, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi
[edit]Hi, welcome to wikipedia - if you need any help, feel free to ask. I've seen your user page - it looks good (better than mine...), but can I just say that, although it's OK on user pages, it's best not to use the =Level 1= headings - they're just to big, and the wikipedia manual of style suggests against it. It's better to use ==Level 2== headings and below. If you knew this, ignore me! Also, I'd like to congratulate you on seeming to get used to wikipedia so quickly - I hope you enjoy it here :) -- Martinp23 20:59, 17 October 2006 (UTC)
- Oops. AMP'd 23:18, 17 October 2006 (UTC)

RE: N overclock
[edit]Citation please?
And what do you mean by "overclock"? I got the impression that "overclock" means that you overclock the processor... which you cannot do in flash. iamthebob(talk|contribs) 05:19, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
And in fact, I have actually achieved transcendence nine times, and I didn't get any overclock... which was the original reason why I marked it as vandalism. Of course, if you have outside evidence I will gladly undo my edit... but for some reason I highly doubt it ;) iamthebob(talk|contribs) 05:20, 5 December 2006 (UTC)
- When you complete the first 6 (or 7, or something. about that) columns you get a speed slider on the configure page. See my screenshot here. Also, I'd personally rather not have that on the article page at all. Wikipedia shouldn't omit information, true, but Metanet don't want the secret revealed. — mæstrosync talk&contribs, 16:25, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- I apologize. I had not realized that this mode existed.. perhaps my memory is just going bad. iamthebob(talk|contribs) 05:50, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks!

Suggestions to other users
[edit]Re In the future, try to actually find an answer to the question, instead of directing a user to an article filled with medical terms he/she may not understand. I assume good faith, so I assume it was meant as a constructive suggestion. Unfortunately, it came across, to me at least, as a command, which is not a particularly polite way of doing things. Maybe in the future you could word your suggestions a little less ... aggressively (is that the right word?). Cheers JackofOz 03:20, 27 March 2007 (UTC)
- Hi AMP'd, thanks for the message. This Wikipedia can sometimes be a tough business. I've learned more than a few lessons the hard way too. When someone else says something that's less than ideal, or just completely against the rules (no personal attacks; assume good faith; etc), it's very tempting and all too human to respond in kind. The thing is, that brings us down to the same level, and we're then guilty of the same behaviour that we took exception to in the first place. Your minor lapse was not a big issue in the scheme of things. I'm sure you'll find chinks in my armour down the track. Hopefully they'll be as minor as yours was. Cheers. [edit]Oh, that was just lighthearted fun. If you think that was bad, you should see what they did to User:Jimbo Wales. They had to full-protect the page to stop it all. Mr.Z-mantalk¢Review! 02:28, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
- Ah, that would explain it. There was also an interesting gag on the recentchanges page. Mr.Z-mantalk¢Review! 02:32, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
What consititutes a 'important' show? The UK entry clearly states 'one of the first UK production' - I know my schools is 'one of the first' because we have the scripts/music brand new. Obviously there must be several sets of these but we must be 'one of the first'. I notice nothing in the article is cited - how can anything on there be 'important'?-- Flutefluteflute Talk Contributions 17:37, 17 April 2007 (UTC)
- Honestly, I'm not sure. My school had brand new scripts, but we weren't the first. I'll be removing all uncitable or unimportant information from that section. - AMP'd 20:34, 17 April 2007 (UTC)

Request for Clarification
[edit]Hey AMP'd,
I notice you mentioned me a short while back. In case your confused by my signature, I've dropped the pseudonym "Loomis" in favour of my true name, Lewis.
In any case, I noticed you apparently gagging yourself so as to not get into a squabble with Clio the Muse, lest you "go the way of Loomis".
I'm just curious as to how you meant that remark to be taken. I took it somewhat seriously, that you had something to say, but held back. Others seem to have taken it as a pure joke.
I can see it as being a sort of half-joke, in that you felt like saying something, but then figured "ah forget it. No point in wasting my time squabbling with Clio".
I'd really appreciate it if you'd clarify for me how that remark was meant to be taken, and if you indeed wanted to say something but held back, what it was you wanted to say.
I realize that I'm probably coming across as a bit silly here, but I'd really appreciate it if you indulged my curiousity.
Thanks!

Orphaned non-free image (Image:World Wind Error.JPG)
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:World Wind Error.JPG. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Wikimania in Atlanta!
[edit]Hi! I noticed your involvement on U.S. South-related articles, categories and WikiProjects, and I wanted to let you know about a bid we're formulating to get next year's Wikimania held in Atlanta! If you would like to help, be sure to sign your name to the "In Atlanta" section of the Southeast team portion of the bid if you're in town, or to the "Outside Atlanta" section if you still want to help but don't live in the city or the suburbs. If you would like to contribute more, please write on my talk page, the talk page of the bid, or join us at the #wikimania-atlanta IRC chat on freenode.org. Have a great day!
P.S. While this is a template for maximum efficiency, I would appreciate a note on my talk page so I know you got the message, and what you think. This is time-sensitive, so your urgent cooperation is appreciated. :) Mike H. I did "That's hot" first! 22:35, 3 September 2007 (UTC)
