As for the date-linking, partial dates (January, Tuesday, and in some cases 1520) usually aren’t linked, while full dates (January 12 or February 8, 2006) are usually linked. Delisting

Hi AJ,

To nominate a pic for delisting, you do the same as with nominating for enlisting, except adding the template to the bottom section. I'll walk you through it. If you use Internet Explorer, this can generate quite a few windows, if you use Firefox then this is where tabs really come into their own.

First, open FPC. In the contents list, click '9 Nomination for delisting'. Then click the edit link to the right hand side of the start of the section.
In a new window (if IE) or a new tab (if Firefox), open the nomination procedure.
Open (in another new window/tab) the page Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/ExampleName. This will be used to create your nomination.
And in another tab/windows, (this is the last one) open the image that you want to delist.
Now, go to the 'ExampleName' window/tab. Click in the address bar at the top, and type a suitable name for the page on which you want to nominate the image. For instance, for the Fennec Fox picture, I chose 'Wikipedia:Featured picture candidates/Fennec'. Remember to replace all spaces in the name with underscores (_). Then, if presented with a 'this page does not exist' box, click 'Start this page'. If you get a voting page instead, choose a different name for your page.
Now go to the Nomination Procedure page. Copy this into that page:

Now save the page. When it's saved, click where it says the name of the page in large letters (including the Wikipedia: bit) and copy that part in large letters into the delisting section of FPC. Put double curly brackets around it ( {{ }}) and save the section.

Some of your comments on the FPC page

We've talked before about the Featured Picture delistings, but I need to comment on the way you are saying things. Several times in the discussion you have accused people of having ulterior motives (here and especially here). I must ask you to please refrain from accusing people in the absence of evidence. I know you disagree with a lot of people in this discussion, but you must understand that everyone is trying to make the best decision for Wikipedia. Replacement

There is quite a difference between the proposed Monopoly board replacement and this situation. For the most part, Monopoly boards look alike. The key reason people wanted a replacement was to get a higher-res version. At that time, the current FP was up for delisting, so it was at least feasible that people who start voting there if someone nominated a better image on FPC. In this situation, however, the current FP is far different from the proposed replacement, and there are multiple previous failed votes for delisting. Regardless, there are only nominations for FP, and nominations for delisting. In the future, you should nominate for FP, and if it wins, then nominate the other image for delisting. — BRIAN0918 • 2006-08-09 20:06

I think so. It would be too tempting for voters to vote based on their dislike for the current FP, rather than the merits of the nomination. Re: delisting question

When closing a delisting nomination (or a regular nomination) I need to look for consensus, not a simple majority. In this case, a two-thirds majority to delist would be the absolute minimum I would need, and even that is probably too low. 9/7 in favour of delisting cannot be considered consensus to delist, so the image was retained. Papal image

It isn't usuable for the papal box. Wikipedia has been following a deliberate policy with the use of the papal image in the papal boxes. The image to be used should show the Pope

preferably wearing full diplomatic and ecclesiastical attire, and
preferably enthroned or in an official portrait.

Where neither of the above are available, then the choice is of the Pope in his white cassock.

Images that show the Pope in a non-formal setting (i.e., in an official pose but not the official one) or at least in a semi-formal setting wearing a particular set of vestments, are usable in the box. Pictures of a pope doing anything else wearing anything else are not used in that box. The reason for that is consistency. All photographic images across the articles follow the same format to provide a visual motif for the page. So pictures of popes kissing the ground, in the process of saying Mass, giving Communion, or anything else, are not used in that box. If placed there they are invariably removed almost instantly by users. The image I put in, though not of best quality, matches the standard images in terms of dress used in the papal boxes. AJ, I noticed your comments on the Escriva page, and they served as the final proof to me that the Opus Dei articles has systemic NPOV problems. Therefore, I have done a major rewrite on the Opus Dei article and am requesting comments on its talk page. Thanks for the comment on my talk page. Could I ask you just to chime in at the RFC itself saying that you feel the rewrite is an improvement over the old article? (assuming of course I'm correct in saying you feel that way) There may be more edit-warring of the article, trying to delete the rewrite, and if so, I want it to be easy for admins to see what a strong consensus supports the rewrite. We've already had to do one ban on this, there may be more, and if everyone responds in the same place, it will be much easier for the admins to quickly understand the situation. I saw your question on the FA talk page, and decided to take a look at the Grand Duchess Olga Alexandrovna of Russia article. While it reads well, it (as you already know) needs to be inline referenced. Which is why I dropped by here: I notice you have included Wikipedia as one of the references. If you are going to submit this to FA (or even if you don't actually) that will need to be dropped from the article. Wikipedia articles cannot use other Wikipedia articles as references. What you can do, however, is go into the edit history and use their references to support your assertions, wherever possible. Hope this was a bit of a help. Good luck. Institut Le Rosey article

I beg your pardon, but would you mind explaining these statements? There is nothing at the head of the Institut Le Rosey page to say that all edits will be reverted by 'us' unless cleared by 'us', and the notion that "most edits need to be cleared by a consensus on the article's discussion page" strikes me as not being how Wikipedia works! I do not see how you could be angry. I informed you that signficant changes need to be addressed on the discussion page before being made. Your edits were significant. As for your assertion that it is not Wikipedia policy to operate that way, you should know that Wikipedia is about working together with fellow Wikipedians so that the articles are as neutral as possible. It is very obvious that the article needs to be edited, but editing the Le Rosey article must be done orderly and with more than one opinion. "Cleared" was perhaps the wrong word to use, but regardless of my wording, it is always appropriate to read the discussion page of any article before editing it. If you had, you would have noticed there are many issues being discussed that require the opinions of many Wikipedians. I invite you to join in on the discussion. I am very sorry if it seems that I was brushing off your edits. Editing the Le Rosey article needs to be done in steps. Sorry for the confusion, -- AJ24 00:46, 11 July 2007 (UTC).

Well, thank you for your apology, AJ24, but I don't see any anger in my comments above! It isn't at all clear to me who you mean by 'we'. Vandalism should be reverted, no doubt, and wrong edits should be corrected, but reasonable ones should be accepted or else improved on. You say "editing the Le Rosey article must be done orderly and with more than one opinion", and I can agree with the first part of that, but on the second part of it it is hard to see why that should apply to this article and not to all others. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

On Institut Le Rosey

For the two sections that I assume are there to warn about future information for this subject, depending on how far off the events will be and how much new information will really be coming in realistically, you might be able to convince someone that there won't really be much instability in regards to those sections. There are some people who feel that if an article has a future event tag on it that it automatically fails the stability criteria, but I am not one of those people. If you can lay out a strong case for those sections not being able to ever become seriously unstable, then even if you fail an initial review of the article for GA status, I think you might pass a GA/R. However, i'm not sure how many people really give any leeway at all with the future event stuff, there was a GA/R several months ago over the next Star Trek movie which comes out in 2008 or something, and people still said that it would be unstable. (How it could possibly maintain an unstable status all the way up until it is released is beyond me.) Homestarmy 17:52, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Istananuruliman.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. I'm not too familiar with the GA process but from what I've seen the criteria seem to be applied more strictly than they were in the past. As far as I can gather there shouldn't be any copyright problems for images in a good article. I suspect you will have a hard time justifying the inclusion of your 1960s photo. See: Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. However, I'm not an expert so you might like to ask for advice at Wikipedia:Copyrights or you could just go for the GA nomination again when you're ready and see what they say. I would have thought your best bet to be on the safe side would be to get someone who lives near the school to take a few current photos for you and upload them to Commons. Otherwise the article looked pretty good to me. I've already put my suggestions on the talk page and I don't think there's much else that needs doing. Good luck!
