Accessing Deleted Pages?
[edit]Hey, I was hoping that there was some way that I could access a page that you deleted such that I may save the contents to my local harddrive. thanks. Page was named Jordan Parker. It was deteled for being a "Self-biography." After having written it, I regretted not saving it for personal reasons. Oh, yeah, my username is JParker.

A smile for you
[edit]Randy Johnston has smiled at you! Smiles promote WikiLove and hopefully this one has made your day better. Spread the WikiLove by smiling to someone else, whether it be someone you have had disagreements with in the past or a good friend. Smile to others by adding {{subst:smile}}, {{subst:smile2}} or {{subst:smile3}} to their talk pages. Happy editing!
Please review an deletion made contrary to consensus
[edit]Please review the deletion of Names of European cities in different languages, and the related articles Names of Asian cities in different languages and Names of African cities in different languages. These were discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Names of European cities in different languages, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Names of Asian cities in different languages, and Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Names of African cities in different languages.
The vote was: Keep: Future Perfect at Sunrise Interlingua Trialsanderrors Atillios Carlossuarez46 (me) Kierant Adam78 Khoikhoi Goldom Pasquale Eivind F Øyangen Fastifex Aguerriero Slowmover Lambiam Irpen Olessi Travelbird Nightstallion Agathoclea Folks at 137 Lethe Qviri Riadlem Peteris Cedrins Reimelt Nick C
Delete: Motor Theoldanarchist Mangojuice Dawson Isotope23 WicketheWok Centrx Angus McLellan Masterhatch Tychocat
That is: 27-10 to keep. While I know that it’s not a strict vote-counting exercise, the usual rule of thumb is not to delete unless there is a strong consensus expressed to do so – i.e., give the benefit of the doubt toward keeping. Here, process was thwarted.
The administrator closing the AfD acted contrary to the consensus expressed at the AfD by making his/her own judgment that the content was not encyclopedic. The whole issue of alternate placenames is very much encyclopedic and has been the subject on ongoing debate among Wikipedians, for example at: Wikipedia talk:Naming conventions (geographic names) and the various disputes about whether to use “Danzig” or “Gdansk” for that city near the Baltic, etc.. Also, similar articles remain extant in several other Interwiki’s (since the article is deleted, the interwiki links are gone too, otherwise I could cite which), so they appear encyclopedic to people who speak other languages. Please restore the articles. Carlossuarez46 18:41, 28 June 2006 (UTC)
Trigger Happy
[edit]Dear Administrator: I, like you, am an editor; I create articles and make edits. But, many, I am sure many other people out there, are tired, frustrated and angry with the behavior of many Administrators. I am certain that it is appallingly easy to revert and article, that someone has undoubtedly spent allot of time and effort writing. I have, in the past spent hours, researching, planning, writing, checking and revising an addition to an article only to have the whole lot deleted forever three minutes afterwards.
I know that deletion of material is essential in a free-to-edit encyclopedia, but if you see an article that someone has anonymously devoted their time to writing, why could you not revise it, change it or give a reason for you action? They deserve one.
I know all Administrators are not all Drunk-With- Power-Trigger-Happy-Nazis, many of you do an excellent job and you know who you are. The world owes you. I owe You.
In closing: Create, don’t Destroy. Make a distinction between “what is right, and what is easy”. Be enriched and enrich others with the knowledge of other people.
And keep that finger off the trigger.

A short Esperanzial update
[edit]As you may have gathered, discussions have been raging for about a week on the Esperanza talk page as to the future direction of Esperanza. Some of these are still ongoing and warrant more input (such as the idea to scrap the members list altogether). However, some decisions have been made and the charter has hence been amended. See what happened. Basically, the whole leadership has had a reshuffle, so please review the new, improved charter.
As a result, we are electing 4 people this month. They will replace JoanneB and Pschemp and form a new tranche A, serving until December. Elections will begin on 2006-07-02 and last until 2006-07-09. If you wish to run for a Council position, add your name to the list before 2006-07-02. For more details, see Wikipedia:Esperanza/June 2006 elections.
Thanks and kind, Esperanzial regards, —Celestianpower háblame 16:00, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Can any of the 1000 thousand administrators in the Wikipedia enforce an ArbCom decision? A user isn't respecting a block blatantly
[edit]SqueakBox was blocked in August 22 until September 28, 2006. It can be found in his block log. As can be seen here, SqueakBox is accessing the Wikipedia after his ban from the address 63.245.13.229, that he claimed to be his real IP address before being blocked (here The 'SB' there means SqueakBox as it's easy to see). Thank you, it's been already solved. Hagiographer 07:19, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Something's wrong with the indefblock template on this page. It says that it's not substituted, which doesn't seem to be the case (looking at the source code). Anyway, as you were the last to block him... yandman 16:15, 9 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit]Possible copyright issues?
[edit]http://wiki.riteme.site/wiki/Myth_War_Online
It's clear that quite a bit of material was copied, but I'm not sure if this is "OK" so long as the originators consent, but I don't think they've explicitly made it clear. I don't know much about the intricacies of GPL or any other copyright licenses or issues, so I've decided to ask for admin decision. There is already a small discussion on the talk page.
Edit: Please respond on my own talk page.

Greetings. There is going to be a Washington DC Wikipedia meetup on next Saturday, July 21st at 5pm in DC. Since you are listed in Category:Wikipedians_in_Virginia, I thought I'd invite you to come. I'm sorry about the short notice for the meeting. Hopefully we'll do somewhat better in that regard next time. If you can't come but want to make sure that you are informed of future meetings be sure to list yourself under "but let me know about future events", and if you don't want to get any future direct notices \(like this one\), you can list yourself under "I'm not interested in attending any others either" on the DC meetup page.--Gmaxwell 22:09, 14 July 2007 (UTC)

Check on Lawson Software article deletion
[edit]I am trying to find out if a request sent to permissions-en at wikimedia dot org has been reviewed for Lawson Software. The article is flagged for deletion today. I have been working with a Lawson company representative to get this cleared up, since I have permission to use information from the Lawson Web site. Any idea how long it will take to get a response from OTRS on this permission request?--KMPLS 14:47, 24 August 2007 (UTC)P.S. Please respond on my talk page.
Javascript/Template question
[edit]I thought you might have an answer to this. Is there a template that I can use that when placed on a page converts into the articles name? for instance if I put {{Page}}(an example) it would automatically convert into the name of the article which it's placed on? Does such a thing exist? If not, What javascript would be required to make such a script possible to create such a template? Wikidudeman (talk) 19:36, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
- What you're looking for is {{PAGENAME}}, which on this page resolves to ABCD/Archive 4, or {{FULLPAGENAME}} (User talk:ABCD/Archive 4). For more options, see Help:Variable. – ABCD✉ 23:51, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
