Purpose of edits - (a) encyclopaedia or (b) promotion of individual? A=good!

[edit]

Do you mind may asking whether you are here to contribute to this encyclopaedia, or to promote the career of Robert Thompson (violinist)? If it's the former, then great, whereas if it's the latter then I think you may encounter some resistance. :) There's a policy somewhere called something like "what Wikipedia is not" - WP:NOT - which covers some of this area. Try the "community portal" link for more on this. If you are Robert himself, this would also, unfortunately, be frowned upon. Best wishes, 138.37.199.206 08:09, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blanking your Talk page doesn't really answer my question. Best wishes, 138.37.199.206 11:31, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I should add that I am not saying the article should simply not be here - I am not qualified to say that, though I did notice that you thought better of mentioning Robert in the same breath as Yo-Yo Ma et al. But I am concerned that language like "Robert blazed through a myriad of technical solos" is not really what you would expect in an encyclopaedia entry - more on a promotional page or a fan site. It may well be that the article would be fine if it were in more NPOV (something else you might want to look up) style. Regards, 138.37.199.206 11:42, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
