What you're doing at User talk:Rmaness1 is disruptive. Either you stop, or you risk being blocked. Also, don't start asking me how it's disruptive as I don't intend to get into a dialog about something so obvious.--Bbb23 (talk) 21:18, 2 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

That Bbb23 doesn't want to get into a dialogue is fine, at this stage I'd really rather someone else explained who is able to be more accommodating to the new editors Wikipedia says it would like to encourage. What I need to flag up here though is that to outsiders nothing about this is at all "obvious". What I could've immediately accepted/understood very well would've been if User talk:Rmaness1 had been put into some kind of protected edit mode following his legal threat because once he's made a legal threat Wikipedia could naturally be perceived to have good reason to only allow certain admins to negotiate with him. Why though leave his page open for all to comment on if a message to him from a sympathetic Wikipedia participant like me is going to get such an impatient reaction from an admin like Bbb23? 86.155.27.168 (talk) 07:43, 12 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oh Wow - this is very funny :o)

[edit]

Does Dusti imagine I'm Ryan's sock puppet? I'm in Southern England, this IP will tell you that. I am interested in this case because of the principles involved here.

Help me!

[edit]

Please help me with... Just thought you should know - this IP is blocked for "block evasion" in what looks like a case of mistaken identity. I will be away from this computer anyway later & I can expect that when I return my IP will have changed - but that's not block evasion. At worst case a person doing this is simply trying to discredit me...86.159.6.4 (talk) 06:23, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for sharing your thoughts. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 07:35, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

<Maness sock[edit] Do you think that perhaps this IP is Maness? Contribs show nothing but edits towards the article and the AFD. Dusti*Let's talk!* 05:51, 6 June 2019 (UTC)

Nevermind Oshwah went ahead and put them in time out Dusti*Let's talk!* 06:09, 6 June 2019 (UTC) It's a very strong certainty in my opinion given the timeline between the NLT block of the subject's account and the first edit by that IP user, and the fact that the IP user's first edit was to that AFD about that article subject. I did some contributions searching with the CIDR range of the network, and I don't see AFD participation anywhere else from that range (at least as far and deep as I checked)... This is why I made the assertion that the IP user was the article subject evading their block and applied a block to it for block evasion. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:22, 6 June 2019 (UTC) >

I really don't think Maness would have as much time on his hands...86.159.6.4 (talk) 06:52, 6 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Oshwah's logic is as silly as Dusti's. I hadn't edited for a few days so when I saw this topic I went in & my ISP had given me a new IP - it changes about every 3 days. I clearly have too much time on my hands but not so much I can be editing too many things at once here!

Dusti says here "Contribs show nothing but edits towards the article and the AFD". I didn't ever edit the article, I'd tried to edit his talk page (& I've since tried to edit the article talk page), also I'd edited the article about the circle skirt & left a comment on the circle skirt talk page which was removed once Bbb23 got on my case (his reason for removal was valid there but I will later suggest that with more patience the issue could've been dealt with in a way that might've been more helpful for new editors & potentially better for Wikipedia as a whole).

Statement from person previously identified as 86.159.6.4

[edit]

While Wikipedia continues to encourage a view that I am U.S. cybersecurity expert Ryan Maness and Wikipedia does not apologise for its error then actions I take may potentially impact upon the reputation of Ryan Maness. For this reason my previous implicit statements should be backed up by this explicit statement : I am not Ryan Maness, have so far not ever received any communication from him & have no connection with him or his family or colleagues - or any friends of his at all other than my participation in online discussions accessible here concerning his treatment by Wikipedia. Furthermore I have never given Wikipedia any reason to think that I was Ryan Maness (the reasons Wikipedia has given for their belief appear to me spurious). 86.155.27.168 (talk) 14:49, 11 June 2019 (UTC)[reply]
