License tagging for File:New-Wiki-Moss-Agate 3132.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:New-Wiki-Moss-Agate 3132.jpg. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 02:06, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your last edit summary to this aricle got cut off. You wrote "Unfortunately, I don't know ho" which sounds like you were asking for help in how to do something. Can I be of assistance? Beyond My Ken (talk) 03:16, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

One thing I'll volunteer -- you need to go fix the licensing problems with the two images that you've been notified about. If you don't provide a valid license, they'll be deleted sooner or later (probably sooner). Beyond My Ken (talk) 03:17, 30 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Just a reminder, you need to fix the copyright on the photo, or it will be deleted in less than a week. Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:40, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You just put this into the article:

To Beyond My Ken: there seems to be no other way to reach you or comment on your page other than "editing" this page with my comments to you. I just found the messages you left for me. As far as the Tiffany lamps page, I didn't notice the box to leave an explanation, and with all do respect, I think it's not helpful to use imitations on a page devoted to such fine works of art. I'm quite familiar with the real lamps and the fakes don't do justice, show a poor resemblance, and I believe are misleading for the reader/observer. As far as the Moss Agate glass photo I just couldn't figure out how to tagging is done. I own the vase and I took the photo, but do I have to make my name known? I'm fine, btw, with its free usage. Thanks for any help.

Please don't do this again. To communicate with any editor, use the "talk" link after their name, or go to the page "User talk:Name of editor" and leave your comment. (For instance, my talk page is User talk:Beyond My Ken) To talk about this, just leave a comment here, I'm watching your page and I'll respond here.

Regarding the Tiffany lamps, if you have an objection to those images being there, please make it on the article's talk page, which is at Talk:Tiffany lamp. I disagree with your rationale, but if you post it there, other editors can chime in. In any case, please do not delete the images again without first getting a consensus on the talk page to do so.

About the vase picture -- are you saying that you took the picture? In that case, go to the image's page here, hit the "edit" tab, and where it says "Author" put in "{{own}}". Then chose a license for the image. If you want to just put it out into the public domain, chose that option, if you want to maintain some control over it, but allow it to be used here, pick the CC-BY-SA / GFDL option.

If you have trouble with the mechanics of doing this, just say here what it is you want to do, and I'll be glad to do it for you. Beyond My Ken (talk) 20:04, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Joan: I got the message you left on my talk page, so I've gone ahead and tagged both your images for you (you can see them by clicking on this link and this link. I tagged them as CC-BY-SA and GFDL, which simply means that you maintain ownership of the images, but they can be used here and other places as long as you are attributed as the "author" of the images.
It looks like both images are exactly the same, is that the case, or is there some subtle difference between them? If they're the same, we should probably mark one of them to be deleted.
If anything else comes up you need assistance with, or just a point of information you'd like cleared up, please feel free to ask on my talk page again, I'll be glad to help. Best, Beyond My Ken (talk) 01:37, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Got your second message: you are correct that the second image yopu uploaded is smaller than the first, but since we have the capability of specifying the size that the image will be shown at in the article, it would be best to keep the larger one (which isn't all that big by Wikipedia standards; actually, it's rather small) and delete the smaller one. If you agree with that course of action, I'l be glad to mark the smaller one for deletion. (And to answer your question, no, deleting a file is not something you can do yourself, it's something that an admin has to do, not ordinary editors such as you or I. However, there are various ways to tag an image to bring it to an admin's attention for deletion, which is what I would do.) Beyond My Ken (talk) 06:14, 2 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]
