Articles for creation

[edit]

Looking at The Scott Morrow Adventure Trilogy‎, I'd highly recommend that you submit your articles to the editing team before making them live. Pieces for the encyclopaedia need a basic amount of formatting and mark up so as to meet the projects guidelines. Please familiarise your self with Wikipedia:Starting an article and Help:Wiki markup. Please also note that nobody personally associated with the subject of the articles should be editing or creating content. Wikipedia regards this as a conflict of interest and the editor maybe blocked. Thank you. Span (talk) 00:19, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of interest

[edit]

Hello, 7Lawrence. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about in the article The Scott Morrow Adventure Trilogy, you may need to consider our guidance on conflicts of interest.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

This warning is based on the photograph you took of the subject and included in the article. Given that it appears to be taken in a studio setting and not at a public event (e.g., book signing), it suggests that you have access to or some (business?) relationship with the author. —C.Fred (talk) 03:11, 26 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from MadmanBot. I have performed a search with the contents of Only The Brave Dare, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: Eragon. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. MadmanBot (talk) 01:25, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your contributed article, Only The Brave Dare

[edit]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Only The Brave Dare. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Eragon. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Eragon – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.

If you think that the article you created should remain separate, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. Eeekster (talk) 01:26, 19 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

We do not embed links in the body of an article. Please stop reverting. Span (talk) 23:12, 6 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

You are still embedding links in the article. WP:EL says external links "should not be used in the body of an article". They are only for the section entitled "External links" at the bottom of the page. This has been going on for over a year. You have been advised (above) that editing your own or your family's page counts as conflict of editing. You are still adding your signature to the article content. There are many help pages that have already been linked for you to learn the basic of how to use Wikipedia. Please use them. If you have a question or don't know how to do something, place the tag {{helpme}} on your talk page and an editor will come and assist. If you continue to add embedded links you may be blocked for disruptive editing. Span (talk) 13:46, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

[edit]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you.

Hello 7Lawrence. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "The Scott Morrow Adventure trilogy".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/The Scott Morrow Adventure trilogy}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save page", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 00:08, 16 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Alert request for enforcement

[edit]

Editorial additions have been been made without consultation by this user that are contentious , containing extraneous details largely unrelated to the life and career of the subject. They exhibit personal bias and are of limited interest. Edits have been made to address these issues by reediting https://wiki.riteme.site/w/index.php?title=M._H._Holcroft&oldid=691803684 and the reasons for this have been consistently and clearly identified. No reasons have been identified in the corresponding edits of editor against who this complaint is lodged. The additions are of peripheral and limited interest to the topic of the subject and appear out of all proportion to the life and subject of the wikipedia entry. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Reluctanteditor2 (talkcontribs) 09:00, 22 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Nomination of Christopher Holcroft for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Christopher Holcroft is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Christopher Holcroft until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Cordless Larry (talk) 06:37, 14 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notability

[edit]

Regarding User:7Lawrence/Christopher Holcroft, I said at User talk:Ymblanter#Deletion of Christopher Holcroft page that I would bring the discussion here. In order to demonstrate notability, you need to show that Holcroft has been the subject of significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the topic. Your comments about his involvement in the scouts and the military do not establish notability as we understand that term on Wikipedia, unless someone has written about this involvement. Cordless Larry (talk) 06:32, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Also, can I ask you to consult Wikipedia:Conflict of interest and declare any relationship that you have with Holcroft? I see this issue raised above, but you don't seem to have responded to the request. Cordless Larry (talk) 06:45, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
In fact, your signature here suggests that you are Christopher Holcroft. If that is the case, you need to read Wikipedia:Autobiography. Cordless Larry (talk) 07:15, 3 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion

Enough of this...

[edit]

For five years you have tried to put yourself on Wikipedia. You don't seem to understand that 1) you are not notable, 2) that you may not use Wikipedia for free advertising, 3) that you may not write about yourself on Wikipedia, and 4) in case you missed it the first time, that you are not notable. The explanation of these issues, I see, has been attempted several times, but apparently you don't want to listen. So you have a few choices: 1) Stop doing what you are doing, and contribute in a more productive way to Wikipedia, or 2) Stop doing what you are doing, and spend your time doing something else other than Wikipedia. In either case, the key is that you need to stop what you are doing. MSJapan (talk) 00:33, 12 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

User:7Lawrence/Christopher Holcroft, a page which you created or substantially contributed to (or which is in your userspace), has been nominated for deletion. Your opinions on the matter are welcome; you may participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/User:7Lawrence/Christopher Holcroft and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You are free to edit the content of User:7Lawrence/Christopher Holcroft during the discussion but should not remove the miscellany for deletion template from the top of the page; such a removal will not end the deletion discussion. Notice

The book Book:The Holcroft Authors has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

1 page book. Download as PDF feature is simpler for 1 page.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, books may be deleted for several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated book prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the book's talk page.

Please consider improving the book to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated book prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes still exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and the miscellany for deletion process allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ‑‑Trialpears (talk) 21:25, 22 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]
