[edit]Hello, I'm Cyrobyte. I wanted to let you know that I reverted one of your recent contributions—specifically this edit to The Matter with Things—because it did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. Cyrobyte (talk) 21:30, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Cyrobyte, it's constructive because the criticism in question is primarily because, per Ellis:
- "His neglect of the Middle Way is not because he has never heard of it. McGilchrist had read at least one of my books about the Middle Way well before he wrote The Matter with Things, and corresponded with me about it. He also quotes me at one point (though on a different issue, without mentioning the key point of what I was discussing, which was the Middle Way). Ignorance thus cannot be his excuse."
- This is very subjective criticism from an author with no name recognition, who has a pet theory that nobody has ever heard of. If every single writer with a pet theory can complain on this book's official Wiki page that McGilchrist did not feature their theory in his book, this criticism section can be hundreds of pages.
- If you still disagree, can you kindly advise how I can make this edit more constructive? 71.38.113.33 (talk) 21:42, 20 December 2024 (UTC)
If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
- I agree with the IP: this is from a non-notable commentator who has a personal conflict with Iain McGilchrist, posting in their own, ie self-published, web site for a non-notable organisation. Note that I'm the editor who incorrectly added this material in the first place. Esowteric + Talk + Breadcrumbs 10:24, 21 December 2024 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
