Rohit Jaggi

Please see my comments on the Rohit Jaggi talk page. It appears that Rohit Jaggi lacks the kind of significant coverage in secondary sources that Wikipedia requires for notability. I appreciate your work in trying to expand the Wikipedia, but I suggest that you work on articles with clear notability. One suggestion for new articles is Wikipedia:Requested articles. You might be interested in Wikipedia:Requested articles/Applied arts and sciences/Transport. Re "interviewed in various media worldwide". Being quoted, as in the BBC piece, is different from being interviewed. Being quoted is a start towards notability, but it is only a start. Family connections are interesting, but they don't lead to notability, in and of themselves. Generally speaking, a journalist has to have won awards in order to be notable. No, I did not intend to suggest that you submit the article Rohit Jaggi anywhere. I just thought that if you were interested in aviation, you might find notable topics on the Wikipedia:Requested articles/Applied arts and sciences/Transport page under "Aviation". Although many of the requested article are of dubious notability. Of course just like article submissions, not all articles that are requested are notable. I would suggest that if you enjoy writing articles that you pick one that has lots of secondary sources. Someone like Eldon Cessna, the aircraft designer, whose obituary is in the New York times, who is mentioned in many books and the American Aviation Historical Society Journal, and who won the trophy for "The World's Most Efficient Airplane" in 1931. Normally, in terms of notability, one is better off writing about people who have died, as there has been more time to assess their place in history, and more time for secondary sources to have been written. Another tactic is when you are reading a scholarly journal about your favorite topic to see if the Wikipedia covers it well. Often adding factual bases and citations to existing Wikipedia articles can be as rewarding as writing a new article. Good luck. --Bejnar (talk) 03:45, 7 January 2010 (UTC)
