Welcome to Wikipedia!
Hello IP user. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions!

I am Paine Ellsworth, one of the other editors here, and I hope you decide to stay and help contribute to this amazing repository of knowledge. Although you are free to perform most tasks on Wikipedia without registering, it is highly recommended you create an account as there are many added benefits. It is private and secure and it is also free, simple, and quick to do.

Some pages of helpful information to get you started:

Some common sense Dos and Donots:

Do be bold. Do assume good faith. Do be civil. Do keep cool. Do maintain a neutral point of view. Do not spam. Do not infringe copyright. Do not edit where you have a conflict of interest. Do not persist vandalizing. Do not cause being blocked.

If you need further help, you can:

Alternatively, leave me a message at my talk page or type {{Help me}} here on your talk page and someone will try to help.

There are many ways you can contribute to Wikipedia. Here are few ideas:

fighting vandalism

being WikiFairy or WikiGnome

helping to other editors

performing maintenance tasks

becoming a member of a project that interests you

helping to design new templates

subscribing and contributing to Signpost

translating articles from Wikipedias in other languages

To get some practice editing you can use a sandbox. If you register an account, you can create your own personal sandbox for use any time. It is perfect for working at bigger projects. Then, for easy access in the future, you may put a link to it on your user page.

Please, remember to:

  • always sign your posts at talkpages. You can do this either by clicking on the button on the edit toolbar or by typing four tildes ~~~~ at end of your post. This will automatically insert your IP address linked to your contributions page (however, if you create an account, your IP address will be hidden and you will be able to build a custom signature that can link to your own user page), a link to this IP-talk-page, and a timestamp.
  • leave descriptive edit summaries for your edits; doing so helps other editors understand what changes you have made and why
The best way to learn about something is to experience it. Explore, learn, contribute, and do not forget to have some fun!

  • Please do not alter the closed discussion at Talk:Oleksandr Oliynyk again. Four editors have now restored this version, in part because of Wikipedia:Talk page guidelines and in part because it creates an improper listing of the closed request at Wikipedia:Requested moves. This has already been explained in edit comments. Any further changes to the section above will be considered disruptive and will result in limits on editing privileges. If you have questions about this, please ask me at my talk page. --Dekimasuよ!; 07.43, 2024-08-29 (UTC)

Quotation mark

[edit]

Hi – That character is indeed a quotation mark. If you do not believe me, try copy-pasting the title of that page into https://www.babelstone.co.uk/Unicode/whatisit.html, which will tell you the exact name of that character. --Tollens (talk); 07.33, 2024-08-26 (UTC) [e]

Hello, I’m Felida97. I noticed that in this edit to Jovan Došenović, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don’t worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you.

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.
