Geo-location kind of is to be expected

[edit]

It's got nothing to do with Wikipedia privileges, or even Wikipedia at all. I recommend you create an account if that worries you. And it should worry you. Notrium (talk) 22:29, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

See IP_address#Geolocation Notrium (talk) 22:31, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I know IPs can be located. But my concern is that "it is to be expected" that others on Wikipedia are publicly revealing that to others. Sometimes editors forget to login and their IP can be seen, is it expected that others who caught their IP reveal their location to others? 5.43.173.12 (talk) 22:37, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@5.43.173.12: See the end of Wikipedia:Harassment#Posting_of_personal_information. That policy says that responsibility is yours. Notrium (talk) 22:42, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
But I do agree this was used for poisoning the well. Notrium (talk) 22:43, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I never had anyone publicly revealing my location in any discussion I have participated in. I don't find they are doing that in good faith. And on the talk page, mind you, where it will remain for ages, not in SPI.5.43.173.12 (talk) 22:46, 14 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
