Speedy deletion nomination of Allstrac, Inc.
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Allstrac, Inc., requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. reddogsix (talk) 01:20, 20 November 2014 (UTC)
Allstrac is no longer an entity anyway, so the page (if there's still one around) can and should be removed. 4dmbrown (talk) 10:36, 31 March 2017 (UTC)

I still don't understand why *any* pages in the sandbox are reviewed at all, but whatever. More arcane rules to deal with. I'm sure authors of *real* encyclopedias don't have their draft articles deleted before they've even finished writing them. 4dmbrown (talk) 10:43, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
Notice of Conflict of interest noticeboard discussion
[edit]There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest/Noticeboard regarding a possible conflict of interest incident with which you may be involved. Thank you. — O Fortuna! Imperatrix mundi. 14:08, 29 March 2017 (UTC)
Understood. Won't be a problem moving forward. 4dmbrown (talk) 10:37, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
Conflict of interest in Wikipedia
[edit]Hi David. I work on conflict of interest issues here in Wikipedia, along with my regular editing. Your article on Allstrac was apparently very promotional. At this point you have what we call an apparent conflict of interest. I'm giving you notice of our Conflict of Interest guideline and Terms of Use, and will have some comments and requests for you below.
Hello, 4dmbrown. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:
- avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
- instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
- when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
- avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
- exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).
Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you.
Comments and requests
[edit]Wikipedia is a widely-used reference work and managing conflict of interest is essential for ensuring the integrity of Wikipedia and retaining the public's trust in it. As in academia, COI is managed here in two steps - disclosure and a form of peer review. Please note that there is no bar to being part of the Wikipedia community if you want to be involved in articles where you have a conflict of interest; there are just some things we ask you to do (and if you are paid, some things you need to do).
Disclosure is the most important, and first, step. Your userpage says that this account is the account of David Mulhall-Brown and describes that person. Sorry to do this but I just want to check - the account name is "4dmbrown" and that it sounds like a bit like this account is run by say an admin, who created it for you and operates it for you. If that is the case, that is not OK in Wikipedia per WP:IMPERSONATE, which is a policy. Would you please clarify?
Also, as I noted it above it seems pretty clear that you have a relationship with Allstrac. Would you please disclose it?
After you respond (and you can just reply below), perhaps we can talk a bit about editing Wikipedia, to give you some more orientation to how this place works. Please reply here, just below, to keep the discussion in one place. I'll also have an additional note about your userpage, in a new section below. Thanks! Jytdog (talk) 05:20, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
Your userpage
[edit]Hi again. This may seem very bureaucratic to you but we actually have a policy about what is OK to put on your userpage (User:4dmbrown) and what is not OK. It is here: WP:USERPAGE (Sorry, there are a bewildering number of policies and guidelines and it takes time to learn them)
The purpose of a userpage, is to let other editors know what you are up to here in WP (which includes conflict of interest declarations, by the way). It should not be anything like a real world bio on a corporate website.
But that is pretty much what your current userpage looks like, and this is not OK in Wikipedia, per WP:UP#PROMO. Would you please change it to make it just focused on what you intend to be up to here in WP? Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 05:26, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
- Another editor has kindly fixed this for you here. Please don't restore any of the promotional content but if you want to tweak it please feel free - it is your userpage after all. Jytdog (talk) 16:58, 30 March 2017 (UTC)
Thanks for the help! Will be more careful in the future. 4dmbrown (talk) 10:34, 31 March 2017 (UTC)
