I seriously doubt that Blossom Dearie actually authored "TO Keep My Love Alive" and would like to see the evidence adduced for that contention. She may have sung the song, however. The author of the lyrics is generally accepted to have been Lorenz "Moss" Hart, music by Richard Rodgers. It was written in 1927 and was the very last number on which Hart collaborated before he died of pneumonia. The style of lyrics fits Hart's style. Please quote the exact words in MusicMatch. In any case, I do not believe that author of the lyrics was anyone other than Lorenz Hart, shortly before he died.

Blossom Dearie was apparently the author of the lyrics, at least, of "To Keep My Love Alive"

[edit]

Dear Sir or Madam,

Blossom Dearie is listed as having had some role in the creation of "To keep My Love Alive." See [1], citing Musixmatch, to which I have not subscribed. May I suggest that you investigate her role and list her participation in that song. You can hear the original version of the music by Richard Rodgers and lyrics by Lorenz Hart of the song at [2]. For its time, it was extraordinarily clever. Given that Rodgers and Hart were the music composer and lyrics writer, respectively, and listed as such on the album, I am not sure of the role of Blossom Dearie, if any. Perhaps the listing is in error.

Please be so kind as to inform me of the result of your investigation, regardless of what you determine.

Thank you.

Sincerely, "Mr. Posen" Mr. Posen (talk) 17:10, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
