Welcome!

[edit]

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Unfortunately, one or more of your recent edits to the page Appleton Wiske did not conform to Wikipedia's verifiability policy, and may have been removed. Wikipedia articles should refer only to facts and interpretations verified in reliable, reputable print or online sources or in other reliable media. Always provide a reliable source for quotations and for any material that is likely to be challenged, or it may be removed. Wikipedia also has a related policy against including original research in articles.

If you are stuck and looking for help, please see the guide for citing sources or come to the new contributors' help page, where experienced Wikipedians can answer any queries you have! Here are a few other good links for newcomers:

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your name on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically produce your name and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask a question on your talk page. Again, welcome.  Toddst1 (talk) 14:51, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Meiktila, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia.

Please see MOS:ERA. Specifically, do not change or remove the established era style in an article unless there are reasons specific to its content. Seek consensus on the talk page first, applying Wikipedia:Manual of Style § Retaining existing styles. Open the discussion under a subhead that uses the word "era". Briefly state why the style is inappropriate for the article in question. Toddst1 (talk) 15:32, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is a shared IP address, and you did not make the edits referred to above, consider creating an account for yourself or logging in with an existing account so that you can avoid further irrelevant notices.

Please stop attacking other editors, as you did on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Days of the year. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Comment on content, not on other contributors or people. Calling other editors who are maintaining standards "busybodys" is a guaranteed way to get yourself blocked from editing. If this is a shared IP address and you are an uninvolved editor with a registered account, you may continue to edit by logging in.

If you're so convinced you're right and know what you're doing, post your logged-in user name and stand up for your actions instead of hiding behind a dynamic IP. Toddst1 (talk) 18:10, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Toddst1:You know what - I would do that, but Wikipedia being what it is, I'd almost certainly be blocked, and I'm not going to take that chance. My Wikipedia user account has never been blocked. I gave you a valid reason why I'm editing using an IP, and my reason does not constitute socking. Anyway, I'm off for a while now, and my next editing will be using my proper account. BTW, apologies for my outburst earlier. I can't really defend my language; it was uncalled for. I do, however, stand by my comments about DOTY and the current ridiculous policy. Hut 8.5, please don't block this IP - as mentioned previously, You'll only be blocking other, random, users. Thanks. (PS: you might reconsider that CE stuff - it was a reasonable edit on my part, but I won't ever revert your change) 85.255.236.145 (talk) 18:33, 2 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]
