Request reason:

My Account Was Unwarrantedly Blocked For Abuse 2die444 (talk) 05:22, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

You do not address that you are believed to have been using multiple accounts in violation of policy. — Daniel Case (talk) 07:42, 25 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Today, on wikipedia as I was editing the wikipedia page for Drag Race Season 15 episodes section - for episode 9 I put the official farewell message that was shown in the episode as it was left blank as "To be determined". Since the message appeared in the episode, just like every episode I decided to add the farewell message.

This specific edit was longer than 130 bytes and I assume the Clue Bot NG saw this as potential vandalism without assessing the actual edit, so it reverted my edit. When I saw this I was confused because nothing about my edit was vandalism, so I undid the revert and added the message back. You can find all of this on the 'View History' section of the Drag Race Season 15 page! Then the user Material Scientist reverted the edits made by me and blocked my account from ever editing on Wikipedia again, under the following reason:

"Wikipedia's technical logs indicate that this user account has been or may be used abusively. It has been blocked indefinitely from editing to prevent abuse."

I do not see any evidence of potential abuse that warrants the indefinite blockage of my account. I have also emailed 'arbcom-en@wikimedia.org' about this. I hope my appeal is considered and my account is unblocked and reinstating to have the ability to edit.

Updated Appeal Request2die444 (talk)

Decline reason:

The problem is, you did violate WP:SOCK. Both accounts edited the same articles and you did not disclose the relationship between the two accounts, at least not as far as I can see. Please carefully reread WP:SOCK. You are welcome to resume editing with your old account and request a name change via WP:RENAME. Alternatively, if you have thoroughly reread WP:SOCK and believe your use was in strict adherence to that policy, please explain why. For example, show that you did not edit the same articles, or show that you did indeed disclose the relationship between the two accounts, prior to the block. I hope you consider my previous appeal in addition to this. User Daniel Case has said that my appeal was declined because "You do not address that you are believed to have been using multiple accounts in violation of policy". First and foremost I have only had one other account that I have used on wikipedia and have since stopped using it because it contained my name and surname in the account name. In addition to not wanting to get doxxed, the username change process was too complicated for me so I decided to create a whole new account.

Just like my current account my previous account has not vandalised of abused any of the pages or policies in any shape or form, and also has never been blocked before - as that was the reason given for my current account being blocked. In addition, I have not used my previous account for edits since the creation of my current page: so suspicion of using multiple accounts is not only incorrect but also unwarranted as this is the only account that I am currently using!

This is my first time dealing with a situation such as this and it doesn't make sense to me as the reason for my block was "vandalism" and possible "abuse" which has both not occurred. I hope you consider this updated appeal as I do not know what else I could clarify on as the reasons for my ban that have been provided to me has already been addressed in my previous appeal.
