Account?
[edit]Hi there, I saw you were having some difficulties. Is there a reason you haven’t made an account? You don’t have to, but the (sad) fact is that logged-in editors have an easier go of things around here than “IP editors” do. It helps keep editors from confusing you with other IP addressed although I realize that’s not the problem you’re having right now. But just generally the practical truth is it makes it easier to get problems solved. And it’s free! Innisfree987 (talk) 04:51, 26 January 2021 (UTC)
- Hi back. Thanks for writing. I very much dislike joining things I guess. That's why I dont register with a political party. Even though people tell me I get the benefit of voting in primaries. And I am interested in politics. But I would rather not join - and that's free also. And as I get it, there is no requirement. I usually dont have a problem - is it the case that editors with accounts can avoid this sort of problem? Anyway, I do appreciate you advice. But it sort of feels like hearing - Hey, if you register for a political party, rather than stay an independent, that one poll person won't spit on you. :))
- User:I dream of horses, thanks for your note, and if you are wondering what Innisfree is speaking to, it is this - Talk:Maya Wiley.

- Not wanting to is a very good reason not to make an account! To answer your question, if I am really honest about it, yes I think these things happen less to logged-in users and there’s probably some game theory explanation about why “established” editors get more deference—not that it’s 100% effective anyhow. But, yes of course it’s entirely reasonable to insist IP editors should be treated fairly. And I hope your addressing the issue may suffice to put it to rest... This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
