Fixing a double redirect

[edit]

Hi. Regarding this edit of yours,[1] would the section be clearer if it were changed to the following? Keeping the example in mind helped me:

An example double redirect, which has since been corrected by redirecting Morchella esculenta directly to Morchella without using Morel as a half-way point.
  • Suppose page title A (Morchella esculenta in the example to the right) redirects to B (Morel), which in turn redirects to C (Morchella).
  • Upon following the link to A (Morchella esculenta), you will see, as illustrated, a page containing:
    • the page title B (Morel);
    • a large link to C (Morchella);
    • a small notice saying "Redirected from A" (Morchella esculenta)
  • Click the "A" (Morchella esculenta) in "redirected from A".
  • You will see a page containing:
    • the page title A (Morchella esculenta);
    • a large link to B (Morel).
  • Click "Edit source" (or "Edit", if no "Edit source" tab is available) and change B (Morel) to C (Morchella).

B (Morel) is the page causing the issue, so that's the one that needs to be replaced by C (Morchella). The fix does indeed take place on page A (Morchella esculenta). The fix is to simply change the target so that A (Morchella esculenta) redirects to C (Morchella) instead of B (Morel). DB1729talk 03:02, 21 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]
