Hello, Plantlady 223 initially added LIGHT EMITTING CERAMIC and LEC descriptively as types of growing lights, but those terms are registered trademarks and are in fact brand names for growing lights, which use CDM/CMH type lamps. No problem with Wikipedia contributors writing accurate articles. But it is misuse of the trademarks to use them as other than registered trademarks. I think its important that Wikipedia be professional and accurate, so Wikipedia shouldn't perpetuate incorrect information or present information in misleading or inaccurate ways. Plantlady223 mentioned that "someone selling LEC grow lights doesn't want others to know that they are the same as ceramic metal halide lights" (or something close to this). But this isn't true. If you research my attempted edits, I am merely trying to ensure the trademarks are not used incorrectly, descriptively. The easiest way to correct this is to make sure we say, for example, "LEC brand grow lights use the same kind of ceramic metal halide lamps as other grow lights" or similar. ... I'm not a Wikipedia expert, but I'm also not trying to just get these references to "LEC" to be worded exactly as I want. I'm trying to make sure LEC is used properly as a trademark when referring to LEC brand grow lights. Part of what Wikipedia attempts to do is to provide a platform for education and the presentation of accurate information. That's what I hope to contribute to in my checks and edits of LIGHT EMITTING CERAMIC and LEC registered trademarks. Any help is appreciated. Again, if you look at all my attempted edits, I've tried to be transparent in my effort to make sure these two trademarks are not misused as descriptive terms. Saying that these two terms are sometimes used to describe or refer to CDM grow lights, without emphasizing that such descriptive use is improper and damaging, is not okay. Please let me know if you have suggestions about how we can all become more educated about how trademarks can be used in Wikipedia so that the information presented can be both accurate in terms of reporting facts from cited materials and also accurate in terms of the facts presented. Unfortunately, there will be citations that misuse trademark terms, but I feel it's our responsibility as contributors to this platform to try and make sure that misleading and wrongful information, if cited at all, is adequately surrounded with information to ensure the reader understands the misuse and understands that using trademarks descriptively is very damaging to the owners of those trademarks. Re your comment above and on my page. I've read what you wrote on other user's pages. I don't need to see it again on my page. Please stop cutting and pasting, particularly if you are not even going to update it. For example, your statement "Saying that these two terms are sometimes used to describe or refer to CDM grow lights, without emphasizing that such descriptive use is improper" is no longer valid. We have already changed the content wrt that. I understand your concern, but I see no problem with the way it is currently written. Wikipedia does not use the trademark symbol when mentioning trademarks. We clearly state that the terms are trademarked but are incorrectly used by some, as shown by the links.

Please stop editing the article. You have a conflict of interest in the material and should propose any changes on the article's talk page. That's also where you should raise the issue that has you concerned, rather than on individual editor's talk pages, so more editors will see it and be able to respond.

And please stop posting your name, email, and phone number. Nobody is going to contact you that way. We don't know that you [are who you] say you are, and it's a violation to post personal information. Meters (talk) 04:55, 31 October 2016 (UTC)

Thanks for commenting and helping, and your patience with my lack of understanding about how trademarks owners can help make sure the marks are used as source identifiers and not descriptions for the trademarked goods and services.
