Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to be blocked from editing Wikipedia. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a block.

If you and Strgzr1 keep edit-warring, I will request a full protection on the page until you can use the talk page for discussion. Violating the 3RR could get you both blocked, as well. Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 02:55, 7 June 2017 (UTC) Corkythehornetfan (ping me) 02:55, 7 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You need to go back and fix all the cite errors you created in Harvey Schiller in the references section (scroll down and look), and format all those bare urls into proper citations. As you can see here, the references section didn't look like that before you started editing the page. See Wikipedia:Citing sources or WP:REFB for further information. Or in the alternative there is also this tool to expand bare urls. Thanks. Isaidnoway (talk) 08:26, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't think he is notable you are not familiar with history and do not appreciate the historical significance of the Doolittle Raid, additionally there is at least one other Doolittle Raider (Edward Saylor) who has a Wikipedia article and whose only real notability was being on this mission; ditto for several members of the Flying Tigers. Also the references provided are clearly quite substantial and credible, there is significantly more reference than in many other wiki articles. Request a review by other editors as this should not be a question of one persons opinion.2601:149:8100:B951:9963:681A:552A:73A3 (talk) 04:44, 27 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Peter Fayssoux Stevens

[edit]

Hello, 2601:149:8100:B951:9963:681A:552A:73A3,

Thanks for creating Peter Fayssoux Stevens! I edit here too, under the username Atlantic306 and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:-

Please replace the findagrave references as it is not considered a reliable source because it is user-generated

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Atlantic306}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Greetings Atlantic - I found some alternate references for the Stevens article, it turns out that one of the brothers has a Wikipedia article which I should have thought to check. I will point out that I have had other articles approved without objection to findagrave references and have seen numerous other wiki articles that include them; while they may be 'user generated' my experience is the information is accurate and those writing them have no reason to publish something that isn't true. I will also say in the way of constructive criticism that there is a great deal of inconsistency and subjectivity among wiki editors; what one sees as notable another may not, what one finds an acceptable reference another may not. There does not seem to be a clear standard on many things which needs to be addressed.2601:149:8100:B951:9963:681A:552A:73A3 (talk) 01:06, 5 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
