Hello

[edit]

Hey there. I am one of the respondents on IRC about your new article draft. I was busy at the moment, and I'm always very skeptical of anyone's first article because most of them are junk which do mandate deletion! After you left IRC, I was able to take a look at yours and I was so moved by the tip-top quality by a new user, that I dug in a bit myself. And I don't even care for sports, so that's saying a lot. I can't believe anyone ever thought that content was gibberish so I have to assume that, plus his deletion of your AfC template, plus his failure to remove this warning here, must have been a triple-blunderous typo somehow. You made a rootin' tootin' spittin' fist-fightin' debut on Wikipedia, to the highest standards. How is that possible for the first draft of your first article? Your first edit included exhaustively complete writing and wikicode formatting. You must have had a lot of wiki experience somewhere.

See my edit comments about tense and "many", except I'd say "many Lakers" is okay, but just verify the edits I did make about it. You have my compliments for the very rare correct grammatical use of the magical possessive ending in an "s" sound with "Phillips's" and "James's". I think most people are ignorant about that, whether casually or belligerently. I've done much battle at Robin Williams, usually rewriting the sentence to eliminate 20 occurrences down to 2 or 3 total occurrences. Similarly, you use real words to describe observations such as "criticized" or "believed" instead of junk like "felt", which I especially notice in a very emotionally charged and opinionated subject. — Smuckola(talk) 02:00, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Smuckola: Hey! Thanks for your kind words. Yes, the draft did take a while to make, but it was worth it. I did try to emulate it off other articles related to my subject here on Wikipedia. The more time I spend writing something towards perfection (or close to it), the less someone else has to work on it. It's beneficial for all rather then just dumping a stub out there and never coming back to it. I'll try to take it to a good article or close to it soon with some more editing (don't really know how feasible that is, hehe). I have no issue with any of your edits, although I might make a small tweak here or there. Really, thank you for your copyediting. Prose and grammar are things which I'm not too good on and it's nice to have a experienced editor look at them. If you need anything else from me, please let me know. 2506Locks (talk) 13:35, 18 October 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Hey there. It sucks about the AfD nomination. You've got the number of citations but they're mostly concerned about lasting coverage, longer than just a few weeks. WP:LASTING and others. Does that exist? I don't see a response to that. Also it got that "orphaned" tag so you could go to the articles listed in See also, and link back such as National Basketball Association criticisms and controversies, Violence in sports, and List of violent spectator incidents in sports. I see those simply from trolling the other articles' See also sections. Do you have any further response? If not, your debut was a killer effort and lobbed a three-point shot from across the AfC court. If you could do this, you could do another one! Bust out that sandbox. — Smuckola(talk) 20:48, 7 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
