- I can get banned for not having an account? 2001:8003:B1B8:BF00:9541:78E9:CB4:9EE4 (talk) 10:12, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
- Hi. You can naturally not get banned for not registering. However, due to the exponentially increasing use of smart phones a very large percentage of IP edits (not yours) are indeed vandalism or attacks on people. The time will almost certainly come when Wikipedia will be brought in line with all other major user-contribuable sites and require registration. Registering even accords more anonimity and protection, because your IP can, in some cases, pinpoint your location to within a few metres. Registering also means that you will get notifications regarding your work, which can be quite helpful, and you will have access to a whole host of other useful features. The registration process does not require you to reveal any personal details or even your email address. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 22:45, 30 September 2022 (UTC)
This is the discussion page for an IP user, identified by the user's IP address. Many IP addresses change periodically, and are often shared by several users. If you are an IP user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other IP users. Registering also hides your IP address. |
