Foreign language talk pages

[edit]

Hi, i just received a notification about someone or something editing my talk page... i don'T quite grasp the fact that there is more than one talk page per user and specially that this one is from a Kazhak wikipedia sub and written all in... well you know.

I really don't get it.. if you can check it out and try to explain, i'd appreciate! Thanks

WP:AFC Helper News

[edit]

Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.

  • AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
  • The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.

Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future. Cheers, Primefac, via MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 15:59, 16 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ACC request

[edit]

Hi there, could you take a look at ACC request #316207 when you have a free minute? Thanks! ‑‑ElHef (Meep?) 21:12, 25 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @ElHef, checking this out today. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 04:40, 9 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

User page

[edit]

Hello, 1997kB,

Is there any way I can persuade you to create a User page on this Wikipedia rather than using the one on Meta? Redirects to Meta from User pages on wiki.riteme.site show up as broken links so you have a lot of old User pages that are showing up as errors at User:AnomieBOT III/Broken redirects/Userspace. I think either creating a User page here or removing the redirects from these old User pages would resolve this.

I've not run into this before with more than one User page so I'm just guessing here. Otherwise, they will just keep appearing on AnomieBOT's list and you might not want connections to appear to all of these other accounts, I'm not sure. Thanks! Liz Read! Talk! 20:01, 25 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Liz, thanks for letting me know about these. It looks like somebody has already fixed this, but I would say, just delete them, talk pages are enough for redirects. The reason I choose global userpage is that it's easy to maintain when you are active over multiple wikis (hope you understand that). ‐‐1997kB (talk) 12:15, 26 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

SPI clerk list: Moved to temporarily inactive

[edit]

Hi, 1997kb. Hope all is well. Since you have no edits to SPI-space since February, I have moved you to "Temporarily inactive" on the list of clerks. If you become active at SPI again, feel free to move yourself back to that status. Or, in the other direction, if you do not foresee returning to SPI, you can move yourself to the longer-term inactive list. I do hope we see you back around, but I know it can be complicated balancing various on- and off-wiki commitments. All the best. -- Tamzin[cetacean needed] (she|they|xe) 20:32, 12 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

A question

[edit]

Dear 1997kB, I would like to ask a question given that you had renamed my account as per my request several years ago. Can rename logs be deleted? Because even though it's not easily accessible by other users, I wouldn't really like it to be kept anywhere due to it containing personal information and having settled at a username once and for all. Thank you, Ayıntaplı (talk) 21:25, 5 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Ayıntaplı: Unfortunately no, it's not possible to delete rename logs. The only option in such cases is that abandon the old account and create a new so that nobody could link it's you. ‐‐1997kB (talk) 03:09, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Got it. At least, I haven't added my signature somewhere with that name. Thank you for your help anyways! Ayıntaplı (talk) 03:18, 6 December 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team
