[edit] Hello, I'm Tacyarg. An edit that you recently made to Devo Harris seemed to be generated using a large language model (an "AI chatbot" or other application using such technology). Text produced by these applications can be unsuitable for an encyclopedia, and output must be carefully checked. Your edit has been reverted. If you want to practice editing, please use the sandbox. If you think a mistake was made, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Tacyarg (talk) 09:09, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
- I think this was a mistake. The edited text was combed through by staff and appropriate links were added as sources or to relevant materials that were worked on by Devo Harris. This was not promotional but informative. Why is the whole edit revoked instead of just whatever pieces there are specific issues with? There was a lot of time and effort put into these and they've just been dismissed. 188.97.166.233 (talk) 20:27, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
Please do not add promotional material to Wikipedia, as you did to Devo Harris. While objective prose about beliefs, organisations, people, products or services is acceptable, Wikipedia is not a vehicle for soapboxing, advertising or promotion. Thank you. . Do you work for Harris? I will post the conflict of interest guidance below. Tacyarg (talk) 20:47, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit] Hello, 188.97.166.233. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Devo Harris, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template), including links or details of reliable sources that support your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicizing, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Tacyarg (talk) 20:48, 12 December 2024 (UTC)
